2. Is Nancy Pelosi lying then? She claims that the Chained CPI is not a benefit

cut. Was she being fooled or was she sincere or was she lying?

It can't be all three, can it?

...the issue is whether the Administration actually thought the Republicans would accept them.

that SS has nothing to do with the Deficit. They know, thanks to all the Progressive Orgs who are working hard to stop this from going through, what a Chained CPI means. So the attempt to bamboozle the people has failed.

Playing Russian Roullete with the people's future, especially the most vulnerable people, is simply wrong.

How about honesty for a change? How refreshing that would be.

We've been through this so many times. The Leadership is not answering their phones when the people call. Maybe if we pretended to be Wall St lobbyists they would respond?

So sick of it all.

She said what she said. Do you have some kind of telepathic insight into her brain that just told you 'she was just kidding'?

Could you please stop insulting our intelligence.

Why SS to play these games with?

Why not Congress' Health Insurance, IF they want to play games?

And explain to me what this brilliant ploy was supposed to accomplish other than scare the shit out the most vulnerable Americans and anger the very people who put her in office?

I really would like a detailed explanation of this supposed brilliant strategy because it doesn't seem to be working.

Apparently you don't understand either "negotiation" or "politics".

a revolutionary idea, but how about Democrats simply tell the truth? The public is overwhelmingly opposed to cuts in SS, so what are Dems afraid of?

I am an ordinary person. Not a political operative, not a wealthy 1%er, not poor, not rich but interested in preserving Democratic principles because I am also a Democrat. Yet, I see no leadership in this party. And I am not alone. It took a long time for me and so many others to come to the realization that we have a weak party, and that is being kind.

Having both sides state a preferred opinion and having the public pick one has never been the preferred approach.

the old type of politician, who was going to 'change' what you are talking about.

That is pure nonsense. If we all had that attitude NOTHING would ever get done.

Let's just leave it to the lying politicians.

The fact is that things get done when the people get involved.

They also appear to leaving behind a Democratic party largely devoted to their aims minus the bigotry and theocracy.

We also get to deal with their death throes for a generation or two so they aren't like to implode more than the average. They have been a debacle for decades, from at least Watergate on.
