Haaretz has learned that the Military Advocate General has instructed the IDF General Staff's Fact-Finding Assessment Mechanism a body tasked with reviewing incidents involving potential violations of the laws of war to investigate suspected war crimes at these sites.

"It's a killing field," one soldier said. "Where I was stationed, between one and five people were killed every day. They're treated like a hostile force no crowd-control measures, no tear gas just live fire with everything imaginable: heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, mortars. Then, once the center opens, the shooting stops, and they know they can approach. Our form of communication is gunfire."
The soldier added, "We open fire early in the morning if someone tries to get in line from a few hundred meters away, and sometimes we just charge at them from close range. But there's no danger to the forces." According to him, "I'm not aware of a single instance of return fire. There's no enemy, no weapons." He also said the activity in his area of service is referred to as Operation Salted Fish the name of the Israeli version of the children's game "Red light, green light".

(65,642 posts)But it can hardly be called surprising, after a relentless, years-long campaign of deliberate civilian murder.

(12,832 posts)And we the US taxpayers are supporting their ongoing murders of innocent Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank as their genocide continues. We taxpayers pay for their bombs they rain on southern Lebanon to protect land they stole from Lebanon decades ago. We are paying for Israeli forces and munitions to attack Syria to steal their land next to the Israeli border while their new government is trying to get underway, a government that has not threatened Israel. We paid for Israel to attack Iran and murder innocent civilians in a country that did not attack Israel. Bibi loves to claim that these attacks are needed for defense. Really?
Netanyahu doesnt want peace. He wants constant war to keep himself out of jail and US money flowing. Unfortunately, I as a taxpayer gave no control over how my taxes are used to kill people. The US has mostly given Israel a blank check with no conditions. Trump will not change that so we can expect the death toll in Gaza to continue rising with 50 or so starving people to be executed every day, along with others murdered in the West Bank because settlers covet their lands.
Today historians recognize that the US Army and white settlers committed genocide of our native populations. The same is happening in Palestine.

Were seeing lots of children, adolescents, teenagers. Were seeing some older people, but its really more execution-style than the typical blast injuries that we see, which tend to be more multi-system, like head, neck, chest and abdomen with shrapnel. And these are really isolated, targeted types of injuries that are much more consistent with the firsthand reports that were getting and a lot of the video that were watching from the so-called food distribution centers, where its kind of like a perverted Squid Games, where theyre given a certain period of time to get the aid, and if theres any chaos, then they just start opening fire. And then, we see it in our facility 20, 30 minutes later.

(18,784 posts)Yes, yes, I get that it is a matter of allegedly thousands on one side vs. hundreds on the other side.
But if Hamas had the power, they would certainly up their game to equal Bibi's numbers.
(Assuming for now that the article is even true and not bullshit like so much that comes from both sides there)
I don't support Hamas OR Bibi / Likkud. But I am sick of the destruction happening in THIS country. (Oh and it's not like I/P is the only place in the world where evil and cruelty are happening - they just have better marketing.)

There are of course other differences. Israel's military force is many orders of magnitude greater, backed by the world's mightiest superpower.
An argument can be made that Hamas would not hesitate, if they had overwhelming military superiority, to murder every Jew in Israel and the occupied territories.
However, this is not necessarily a moral distinction. The Israeli government must still maintain support from from both their own voters and the American people. They are a nation state with a functioning economy, and can't afford the consequences of becoming a total pariah by committing naked unmistakable genocide.
Then there would be no moral distinction between their actions and that of the Nazi regime which, ironically, led to international support for establishing the Jewish state in the former Palestine in the first place.
It remains to be seen whether the president of the United States will assist in the removal of all Palestinians from Gaza, so he can build luxury resorts there. Perhaps some Palestinians would be allowed back in as service workers.

(50,657 posts)are horrific crimes regardless of the perpetrators and should be condemned. To be outraged at the IDF's slaughter of civilians in no way means support for Hamas. There can be monsters on both sides.

Daily massacres of civilians.
Documented and attested to by the IDF--the very ones committing these crimes.
"The most moral army in the world", eh?
Not any longer.
The colonialist-settler state of Zionist Israel has been forever tarnished in the eyes of the world.
It didn't have to be this way...

(975 posts)How many of their people are killed. If they had a ceasefire, one side or the other would break it. Hamas doesnt particularly care about its people, not really, Israel certainly doesnt care. Bibi doesnt care about other Israelis. The leadership on either side is perfectly willing to sacrifice their own just to kill more of the other side. How do you stop madness like this?

(20,646 posts)I know. "Improve" isn't used by the Nuttyyahoo regime in the normal sense. They simply want the Palestinians gone. Deported, dead, just as good. What these morons are actually doing is creating more terrorists. Industrial scale this time, on a freaking assembly line! You can't solve this problem with bullets and violence. Certainly not this level of violence. What's left will seek revenge. Guaranteed. And that revenge will be proportional to the violence dished out by the IDF. Eventually, Israel will pay for these crimes and it won't be pleasant.
