By "biggest," I mean a scandal that it will generate ongoing negative publicity and his damage his support in a way nothing else has YET!

(55,377 posts)In reality, he's a non-stop scandal machine. He routinely breaks every rule, no other politician would be allowed to survive a fraction of his crap.
That said, if there's a line they wouldn't allow him to cross, you'd think lying about military actions should be it.
I can see them saying lying about domestic stuff is "politics as usual" but lying about bombs and war and nuclear capabilities is something else.
But the media will get over this quickly as they've done with everything else Donnie has done. They simply have no journalistic integrity at this point, they've shifted owners and editorial boards and fired anyone with a conscience.
It's the fascist way.

(15,156 posts)CNN link: https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/26/politics/us-iran-talks-nuclear-program
Also from Heather Cox Richardson: "This afternoon, Zachary Cohen, Alayna Treene, Kylie Atwood, and Jennifer Hansler of CNN reported that the administration has been engaged in secret talks to ease sanctions on Iran, free up $6 billion in Iranian funds currently in foreign banks, and help Iran access as much as $30 billion to build a nuclear energy program, all in exchange for Iran freezing its nuclear enrichment program."
"Trump ran his 2016 campaign in part by attacking President Barack Obama for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was a much more stringent deal than the one suggested in the CNN article."
"But there is perhaps a different angle to this deal than the Obama administrations. The idea of building nuclear power plants in the Middle East was central to Trumps 2016 bid for office. Members of Trumps inner circle, including Michael Flynn and Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner, hatched a plan for a joint U.S.-Russian project to build nuclear power plants in Saudi Arabia. In June 2016 they formed a company called IP3 International, short for International Peace, Power and Prosperity."

Apparently, "some people are saying" Trump plans to personally profit from this deal. Also "some people are saying" Trump's bombing raid was part of this scheme. Inquiring minds want to know.

(9,305 posts)...and it will only get worse -- never better. That thinking has pretty much rang true ever since.
Unfortunately, too much of the electorate was too stupid to realize this on their own, so now they are learning the lesson they failed to learn the first time around...

(7,638 posts)the sad thing is no matter what he does, he will not lose much support. Sure some of the die hard isolationists may drop off, but he feeds is their racism, hate, bigotry - in a way they cannot get from anyone else. They will hold on to that no matter what. People are willing to lose family support to continue to be trump supporters. He wasn't lying when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and not lose support.

(34,851 posts)It seems that he'll never be held accountable. His biggest crime to date was the cutting/mishandling of the CDC and its satellite programs before and after covid. No one even thinks to blame him for that.
Now we're basically headed into the unknown with so many programs slashed without any understanding of what the programs were set up for. The fallout is going to be massive and millions will die. But I'm sure he'll escape blame again somehow.

(11,179 posts)anything that may directly result in people dying--including myself as I will lose healthcare. But this is a worldwide story about lying about the damage done to Iran's nuclear program. That is as big of a lie as possible, and the truth will come out. I think it has the potential to explode. Trump has been rage-posting like never before over this, yelling at reporters and getting his angry mob to join in the fight. He doesn't need to do that over the CDC.

(23,045 posts)add it to the pile of things that are causing his approval ratings to crumble.
I think we've learned over the past ten years or so that there is no single scandal that will bring Trump down. But the further he goes, the less people like it. This was posted yesterday:
The military: 45% approve, 49% disapprove
Foreign policy: 40% approve, 54% disapprove
The Israel-Iran war: 39% approve, 53% disapprove
Immigration: 41% approve, 57% disapprove
Deportations: 39% approve, 59% disapprove
The economy: 39% approve, 56% disapprove
Trade: 38% approve, 55% disapprove
The survey of registered voters was conducted June 22-24 among 979 respondents with a ±3.1% margin of error.

(28,821 posts)One has to be selective where one gets his news.
I listened to Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson say before the bombs were dropped that they would no way penetrate that mountain.
Kabuki Theater Act I
Putin owns Krasnov. Iran is an ally of Putin. Bibi owns Krasnov. Putin works out a deal with Iran and Krasnov to drop bombs on mountains in Iran. Iran moves its enriched uranium. Krasnov lies and claims total devastation of Iran's nuclear facilities, is seeking the Nobel Peace Prize. Iran continues enriching uranium.
Kabuki Theater Act II
Iran tells Krasnov when it is shooting missiles at our military bases so that no one is killed. Iran saves a little face. Bibi may have even been included in on the theater performance. The people of Israel are cheering for Bibi and Krasnov.
Kabuki Theater Act III
Putin can use Krasnov's invasion of Iran as an excuse for him to invade other countries. Xi can use it for an excuse to invade Taiwan.
