Is Boehner 'done' as speaker ?

Will the "crazies" have succeeded in burning the house down while they're still inside ?

And I mean that seriously. There has never, ever, in the history of the House been a Speaker so weak so to be unable to control his own caucus on a vote he declares a party loyalty vote. It just hasn't happened. Tom Foley could get the most redneck, racist sombitch Democrat from Mississippi to vote for a bill if he said "Sonny, this is a party loyalty vote". Sonny might change parties right after that (this has happened), but we haven't seen this kind of anarchy before.

We've never seen a Speaker this weakened so we have no precedent for what happens now. This is a new chapter in the history of the House.

but he's going to be squeezed between a potential tea party challenger and a Democratic candidate on the other side who is sure to make a strong argument that he was responsible for the coming market collapse and credit downgrade if it comes to that (and I hope it doesn’t). If I were Boner, I'd resign.

behind this coup d'etat, I'd cut a deal with Nancy behind his back, next week pass a bill with dem votes and some republican votes and then resign.

Boehner was one of the last of the old guard Pubs.

Cantor is a Tea Party right wing extremist buffoon so things will get even more bizarre next year.

with the White House before the next session of Congress, he's through, even if it fails to pass the House. All Plan B was about was saving face with a "well, we tried, but Obama screwed us over" kind of lame excuse.

He can survive if he rides the fiscal cliff long enough for the President to get the blame for it.

He makes a deal with Obama that needs almost all the Dems and about 45 Repukes to pass the House. He's vilified by the teabaggers and talk radio.

He resigns as Speaker and gives up his seat.

He is seen as a modern day political hero for putting his country ahead of his own personal, political ambition.
