(21,612 posts)Is this in the bill? Could you tell me what it does to ambulance service. Thank you.

(7,682 posts)A big portion of the reimbursements to private ambulance services comes from Medicaid. There will also be an impact to Medical Transport Services programs that pick people up for appointments and bring them home. What will absolutely begin to happen in a big way is for people to be refused coverage based on "review" of their files and they will just start terminating coverage and make people "qualify" all over again. Given the staffing cuts the "re-qualifying" will drag on and on. Meanwhile the doctors and hospitals will be restricted in treating patients who have no clear means to pay. The mega health corporations who own the hospitals and clinics will not be handing out charity anytime soon. Especially on a large scale.

(3,817 posts)if this attempt passes and is signed into law by the felon what I don't see is any discussion about what will happen if the Ds gain a majority in 2026. Could not the Ds (in 2026) pass another tax bill one that would render entire BBB moot and replace it with our own version?
If this is possible, I think it is something that voters should be reminded of. If this is possible, the Rs should be reminded that their vote on this bill will not get them re-elected and that their BBB will be moot as of 2026.

(5,968 posts)it is signed. He will veto it and Democrats have no realistic chance of having a large enough majority to overcome a veto.

(340 posts)The GOP will be defending 22 state seats - 20 of whom Trump carried by ten or more points in 2024. The Dems need to flip five seats. Thats unlikely to happen. Tradition shows that the Dems have a much better chance to take back the House, leaving a divided Congress where there will be little legislation passed. The GOP controlled Senate will be able to approve judges and Trump appointees.
Wiz Imp
(5,968 posts)However, I agree that will be difficult. But it's certainly not impossible.

(6,094 posts)Of the votes after the mid terms. Wouldn't prove anything but it could add another chip to the "math ain't mathing" category WRT the 2024 election. Maybe if the improbable happens, dem leadership might open their eyes to more of its democratic constituents. Something needs to wake them to the urgency of change we're demanding.

(14,589 posts)And some things that really did make our country great will be lost forever.
But I think the biggest thing that we are losing is credibility to the rest of the world. Even when Trump is gone, we have proven that we are quite capable of repeating our worst mistakes.

(7,765 posts)The GOP too. They all want to destroy America & replace it with something that doesn't look like America at all.

(4,823 posts)They just want to remove or eliminate all the people that they consider undesirable.
When Goldwater was running for President he expressed alarm over the Evangelicals influencing their party and government. He expressed alarm because as true believers they lacked the ability to govern because they didnt understand nor believe in compromise.
You combine that group with the anti-civil righters and you thus have the current GOP - a combination of Klan members and NAZIs. (You can take your pick as to which group matches).
Now, you add Citizens United and you have the super rich oligarchs who are playing a zero sum game with the nation.
To me, it is just a question of when their front man - Trump, will ignite a firestorm of hate to justify doing what he wants to do, and what they want him to do but not have the blame applied to their particular group.
I said this before - think of your MAGA family and friends, honestly in your heart of hearts - wouldnt they?
Historically in Germany in the 1930s, do you wonder how many decent Germans just went along to get along so as to keep peace. And by the end of 1945, when there was nothing left except the national shame of what they had done and who they had become - I wonder was it worth the peace?

(6,094 posts)I dont know if they hate America or if they really just don't give a crap. They're totally apathetic and are, in reality, stateless people. They belong nowhere and think they rule everywhere. Nation states are just too provincial to them. They live in and thru the stateless social media companies they head. And they're determined to make the real world fit into their libertarian utopia model. Never mind what the rest of us want. We're just ants to be stepped on and stamped out when we consume more than they think is proper.

(988 posts)The country would have continued to return to something close to normal has Harris & Walz been elected. But 77 million Americans voted for a man who hates democracy and loves authoritarianism.
We're never going back to the way things were before Trump slithered down his escalator 10 years ago. We've been taken over by an evil autocrat backed by oligarchs and christofascists who prefer to live this way and find democracy to be an annoying obstacle.
Even if hopefully we win back power in 2026 and 2028 it's going to take decades to undo the damage being done every day.

(125,905 posts)But he's such a creepy, nasty wet sponge of a human, just as unlikeable as Ted Cruz, that he won't inherit Trump's MAGA cult and the GOP will split into factions, jockeying for power. Vance will have the backing of billionaire tech bros like Thiel, but those guys will shift allegiances to wherever they think they can get the most bang for their bucks. If the GOP splinters and if more Democrats start growing spines, Project 2025 could be neutered.
Wiz Imp
(5,968 posts)However, he has the personality and charisma of dryer lint. He would never be able to command the complete worship of the cult like Trump. I have no question that the MAGA cult will splinter in multiple warring factions once Trump is out of the picture.
