But. Trump will likely bail out farmers who cannot make a crop because their workers are gone. Of course, like in the first bailout, most of the money will go to the well-connected hedge fund "farmers". And the farmers who weren't big enough and well-connected enough to get bailed out will lose their farms. But they will not admit that the cruel and stupid policies that they voted for caused their own destruction. They are like smokers with lung cancer who sit with the chemo pumping into their veins and still deny that they caused their cancer.

"The phrase "Look down, whisper no" is a reference to a chilling quote from the character Rorschach in the comic book series and subsequent movie adaptation of Watchmen.
The Full Quote & Context:
The full quote, as spoken (or written in his journal) by Rorschach, is:
The quote details Rorschach's bleak view of society, describing the city as a corrupt place. The full quote can be found on TV Tropes tvtropes.org.
As a meme, the phrase is used to convey a sarcastic refusal or nihilism. It is often paired with images of authority figures or chaotic scenes to imply an unwillingness to help."

The buildings are burning, with the voly's only able to save the cement foundations, and the older people need to be ground transported 60-100 miles for care, or air lifted long distances. Med Chopper prices have soared everywhere, and can bankrupt individuals that have to pay them. Most often NOT covered by Medical Insurances.....

Driving in Nebraska with a green Colorado license plate is hazardous. I always drove 5-10 mph under the speed limit the entire way. A Nebraska State Patrolman once pulled me over for not having mud flaps on my small pickup truck.......Nebraska has a law requiring mud flaps even on SUV's and Pickups, which is not a bad idea considering I have had to buy a lot of windshields......but when I asked the cop VERY politely and sheepishly how that applied to out of state vehicles and he said it didn't, he just wanted to check me out......???????

"Scapegoating" typically places blame on someone who is not primarily responsible. Voters in NE share equal blame with Trump voters throughout the USA -- adults who should have known better.

I don't "hate" them, but I don't spare them from criticism either.

Which, of course does nothing to save our democracy. We need all the allies we can get -- including voters who are experiencing the consequences of voting for an incompetent deranged narcissist. If they can connect the dots between the actions of the current administration and these consequences, they just might accurately place the blame and make a different choice next time they vote.

Harris got 39.1% of the vote. Should we be gleeful about how badly Trump's policies are hurting them? Should we say FAFO about Nebraska's children? Or about people who aren't eligible to vote? People in nursing homes or who face other barriers? Should we even say it about Trump's voters, dehumanizing them as we believe they dehumanize us?

Or maybe, maybe, can we extend our empathy to everyone suffering under these policies, earn their trust, and be ready to work with them if they are willing to work with us?

Full disclosure, I am a lifelong Nebraskan. It is interesting noting how I feel about what I'm reading right now. I hope I will be more careful in the future with my comments blaming the whole of a state because of... Well, ok, a majority of voters.
Nebraska is a big state with a lot of farmland. There are a few liberal cities and vast areas of small towns. In those small towns or around them there are one or two uber rich people who have sold their souls to the chemical companies while buying up all the small farms that went broke back in the last farm recession. Everyone in these little towns in the end works for these uber rich land owners. It's like little kingdoms all over the state. And in each of these little towns there's a small number of liberals, a number of poorly educated folks, a number of Mexican migrants who work for these farmers, there is a fair number of old people like myself, very young people, there are teachers and doctors and if they're lucky small hospitals and libraries and yes their world is very small. They strongly believe that people in the cities think they are stupid while knowing that if one of us had to survive on the land we would die and they would live, so their thought is, who are the dumbasses now?
My daughter moved from the capital city of Lincoln to a town of 80 people in western Nebraska. I have lost my mind knowing how red of an area she lives in. The BS she listens to everyday would end me. You are right they would vote for Trump again. But like every population of people, they would jump into a river to save you if you fell in. People are after all just people. People who work with what they know, people who love their children want to be healthy and grow old and die in their sleep like all of us. If even a few learn a lesson or regret their choice of voting for a con man, we should embrace them and forgive them and help them become better people.
This is been an enlightening experience, I really hope that I learn something from it.

Like Bruce sang, "Open up the windows, let the bad air out!"

We are facing a country-wide crisis and very hard times are just ahead. It doesn't help to blame Nebraskans!

I usually say, when I start hearing a litany of blame, I know we are driving straight into the ditch.

Blame is easy, it's convenient, but it makes us blind.

Nebraskans, just like the rest of us, have been subjected to an insecure man who stop growing developmentally at 4 years old, who became an expert at manipulation, who somehow got elected president through cheating and lying, and used hate and blame to turn us against each other.

Our energy would be better spent working to get this failed man-baby, this soulless creature out of government and behind bars for life, where he belongs.

OK, so yeah, he lied. But so did the realtor who sold me a house I shouldn't have bought. I'll be smarter next time. Will Nebraskans?
If they don't learn from this mistake, we are stuck with fascists.
Unfortunately they aren't intellectuals, on average, so they have to suffer a lot before they get it.

I'm not a fan of people suffering for falling for a hoax. But if the only way they will stop inflicting this on all of us is suffering, the let it be.

I don't know why the dem party doesn't broadcast a new version of the top map after every election!! I posted the top two maps on my FB page once & OMG, did it ever trigger the repubs in my network!! I'm guilty of using red state/blue state terminology, too, but it's a skewed way of looking at the country & favors republicans. Scratch that. It favors the cult.

Not feeling sorry for them. A vote for Trump was an act of stochastic terrorism.

No sympathy from me.

Nebraska is much as you say it is, and there are still people I love there.

But I refuse to make excuses for them. The simple truth is, when you get down to it, they damn well know better.

I grew up in a small town. I dread going back home knowing that the same people that would jump in the river to save you could support this orange anus. They go to church every Sunday and then live a life of hatred the rest of the week. It's sickening.

I've given up on relying on the goodness of these people. They've been brainwashed beyond help IMHO. I know too many who seem nice but deep down are horrible people. This is no longer the party of Eisenhower or Nixon or Reagan or Bush. Its a party of hate and humiliation. I have yet to meet one that openly regrets their choice.

If they are dealing with revenue shortfalls, let them raise their own taxes.

Soybean fields. I fail to see how immigration enforcement has anything to with the fact that China isn’t buying. Soybean farming isn’t a labor intensive endeavor. It’s not like there are thousands of people out there picking soybeans. This a matter of a moron jeopardizing farmers livelihoods because of his vanity.

But both are a result of Trump's actions. China isn't buying because of the tariffs Trump imposed on the goods imported to the US from China. Immigration enforcement is a separate action that bites them in the butt. Those beans aren't going to harvest themselves.

Where they do much soybean farming? As I said, it’s not a job that requires much outside labor, if any. Sometimes they might hire someone for a day to drive the truck. But that’s it. If no one’s available it’s a minor inconvenience at the worst. It’s not like the harvest is time sensitive, like it is for strawberries, etc.

I thought our emperor had a new trade deal with China? I honestly can’t keep up with all of his emotional instability. Seems like it changes daily.

But I do live in a river valley with rich volcanic soil surrounded by working farms. The cash crops here are raspberries, blueberries and rhubarb. They're far more labor intensive crops. Thanks for the enlightenment!
