He was a MAGA Trumpster!

Do you recall just a few days ago when the young guy set a brush fire and then killed a couple of firemen when they responded to the fire. He was a big-time MAGA. A big Trump guy, with a gun. We cannot let these stories slide by if we wish to ever get any gun legislation.

You can bet that if he had been a Biden supporter or a Democrat, it would have been all over FOX News and right-wing media. "See, they are always blaming us but who is killing people?!", they would have repeated over and over. These are the type of stories where we need to be repetitive, in my opinion.

In a similar way, with the Big Ugly Bill passed today, Democrats should be locked and loaded and be ready to pounce the first time a rural hospital is closed and should place the blame squarely on the GOP. Individual examples are better than generalized statements such as, "17 million people are going to lose their healthcare". People are not as interested in "what is going to happen" as they are in what is happening and being reported, in my opinion.

I think this is one way that Democrats can message differently and be more effective. Just my opinion.

1. Yup. Dems have a messaging problem.

We talk about it on DU all the time. God knows the Republicans keep giving them ammunition, but Dems, who have Hollywood on their side, just can't seem to find a soundbite that will resonate with their constituents.

They've already lost on "Alligator Alcatraz," which the press seems to find such an adorable nickname for Trump's concentration camp that no further questions are needed.

As a group, Dems have had no idea of how to control the message at any time in my politically conscious life (3 1/2 decades or so).

to be fair, i don't want either party to "control the message." but this tsunami of bullshit from maga is an unnatural disaster.

2. Some site will keep a running tally of hospital and nursing home shutdowns. We should have a thread for it, right?

The NYT is good at that. Also other sites. Get Mad Dog to put them up on billboards on red state highways and capitals.

Just like the double murder of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and dog. And the shooting of Sen. Hoffman and his wife.

Political violence is no big deal if the murderers are maga.

and there was a discussion about that. MAGA people are still acting like that shooter was Walz's best friend. No amount of people saying otherwise with links to back it up would change their minds. Of course it's possible they were bots and I guess they can't be reasoned with. I think I'm going to delete my account there anyway. It's gotten every bit as bad as Twitter. My block list there is in the thousands now.
