Would cause inflation but $100s of millions in pay increases to CEOs and executives doesn't cause inflation.

The magical mystery of the free market run rampant.

...of people that will actually spend it does cause inflation. You can see an example of that with pandemic-era stimulus. Giving more money to people that don't need it to spend--like CEOs and billionaires--actually doesn't cause inflation because they are already spending all they want and the extra cash goes toward investments and generational wealth stockpiles--therefore none of the competition for goods and resources that cause prices to rise.

We have to learn to think a little differently about inflation and workers' pay. And this is also why increases in minimum wage, etc., need to be phased-in over time: to give the market time to adjust to increased demand and not spur rapid inflation and the ensuing political blowback.

22. Actually as the filthy-rich

Concentrates more and more money, the money becomes worth less and less. They hide it and horde it. It would be good if they invested it but they aren't doing that as much anymore. The vast majority of the filthy-rich have foreign accounts to hide a good portion of their wealth. Which was a big problem that helped cause the Republican Great Depression.

Our government has tried to solve financial problems by simply printing more money. This can drive the value of money drastically downward, especially in modern markets where money is not backed by anything. Not even the good faith of a nation what with Trump as president.

Twice as many dollars in an economy makes those dollars worth half as much. That money was distributed to banks and rich corporations in times of crisis. Most of the huge PPP loans and 2008 bailouts were never paid back and went to cover failed banks, Wall Street Firms and even the Trump family. The measly $600 handed to some adults who had a record with the IRS was a drop in the bucket compared to what was handed out to the richest among us.

Why aren't the prices coming down with fewer cashiers?
Give me a 10% discount, then maybe I might use the self checkout.

yourself. Instead full service where they pumped the gas, washed your windshield and checked the air in your tires and your oil, it cost you more.. Of course there's only self serve now and no discount.

Each gas station has attendants to keep people employed.
And it's reflective in the price of gas.

I remember traveling out of State and my kids had to show me how to fill my own gas tank!

... it's just as likely they simply pocketed the savings and claimed to be doing self-checkout for "convenience' and putting "downward pressure" on costs.

... $15 and hour will drive up the price of a Big Mac, but paying the CEO $8,000+ an hour doesn't. How does that work? Explain it to me like I'm 5.

with my 3 items, I'm often told self-check out is available. My reply is "I don't work here". No more is said.
