OMG: Marine "Sgt." Craig Pusley decides to guard an Elementary School

This is sooo very wrong in my view, and it seems to be more harmful than useful.
Children need to feel safe not to feel like they are under threat of attack.
And the school allowed it without checking up on him!

Marine Sgt. Craig Pusley guards Hughson Elementary School

Hughson Elementary School officials arrived Wednesday morning to find their school under new security.

In combat boots and full fatigue uniform, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps stood out in the cold and he volunteered his services for the whole school day.

“He approached me and asked me if it would be OK if he stood in front of our flagpole this morning to make sure our parents and kids felt safe today as they arrived on our campus,” Hughson Elementary School principal Laura Fong said.....

“There’s no policy for something like this, but I didn’t see why he couldn’t stand in front and keep us safe,” ...

Pusley is employed full-time, but plans to stand guard over these kids for the next 30 days.

Accused Marine faker 'deeply sorry'

A Marine veteran who made national news for standing guard outside a California school in uniform was accused Thursday of faking his military service, but denied he did so.

.... Pusley told Marine Corps Times in a phone interview he never lied about his military service, blaming the first reporter who interviewed him, Nan Austin of The Modesto Bee, for getting the story wrong.

“There’s a lot of fabrication to this story that didn’t come out of my mouth,” Pusley said. “All I know is that I talked to a Modesto Bee lady, and everything went crazy.”

Photographs show him wearing the rank insignia of a sergeant, however. Asked about that, he said he didn’t realize what was on the uniform and borrowed it from someone else.

Even if he was what he claims to be, if he's not on duty, he shouldn't be in uniform. Fail.

Marine Corp Reservists says he violated protocol by wearing his fatigues and not his dress uniform in public. Facing $10,000 fine and 5 years in prison. Also getting a "dishonorable" stamp on his "honorable" discharge.

8. OMFG. Any guards at schools need full mental evaluations, and they shouldn't be in uniform,

although they should identify themselves before confronting anyone. For all they know, he could be the next mass shooter.

What really bothers me is the impact on children, making them feel like they are in imminent danger is very, very wrong.

Most schools I know of will be vacant for the next two weeks or so. He's going to get awful lonely.

They're coming out of the woodwork.
