Obama Pursuing Same Failed Clinton Strategy That Lost The House And Eventually The Senate ---

for Democrats after 40 years of control. Bill Clinton ran against NAFTA and when elected turned around and sided with Gingrich and the GOP. He beat the crap out of Democrats and FORCED many of them to vote for it. He also put Democrats in a position to pass welfare reform, the Telecommunications Act, and favored nation status for China.

Passing NAFTA alone cost the Democrats the control of Congress that they had enjoyed for 40 years. Clinton was impeached for his efforts. We spent over 2 years on that process while the terrorists organized. That is one reason why we got hit. We were too distracted by impeachment to pay attention.

What did Clinton's strategy do. It created the economy we have today and advanced many GOP initiatives..

Obama came in and gave the GOP what it wanted on key issues. Designed and passed GOP health care modeled after Romneycare in Massachusetts. He beat up on progressives and told them to shut up. Blamed Congress or inaction and without singling out Republicans. We got shellacked in 2010 and it allowed the GOP to gerrymander key house districts and pursue
their no tax agenda. Obama bares some responsibility for 2010 because he trashed his base. As still does today.

Now we are here and Obama appears to want the same lousy compromises that got us here. He keeps saving the GOP with this bipartisan crap. It is the same thing that Clinton did. Clinton helped get us Bush for 8 years by hamstringing Gore.

Clinton gave us NAFTA and "ended" welfare as we know it. He also presided over the repeal of Glass-Steagall. He was a competent President, just like Obama. But he was far from being the grooviest dude ever.

tenure also. (Died as a result of cruel sanctions maintained upon Iraq.) Clinton and his SofState Madeleine Albright are babykillers, so Hillary voting for Operation Shocking and Awful BASED ON LIES just maintained that same bloodthirsty tradition.

said she thought the sanctions were 'worth it.' Translation: she was owning the sanctions. Saddam Hussein may have been Satan incarnate, but the sanctions do not and did not 'belong' at his feet.

But who knows what will ultimately happen? Opportunity is a bitch sometimes but you still have to grab it and not let go. Obama has been very poor at that--or at least whoever is advising him is. Nevertheless even tiny changes seem to have a huge effect.

I still have an irrational hope that the opportunity to just let the damn tax cuts expire
Dec 31 won't get lost over Obama's "good intentions." A new Congress will be a better opportunity to write changes.

He can't be that blind, can he? Don't answer that.

President Obama doesn't support a balanced budget, but there are progressives who are fiscal conservatives who do.

Trying to compare dealing with the recklessness of the last decade in the middle of one of the worst economic crisis to what Clinton did is absurd.

And what the hell does passing health care reform, which expands Medicaid and strengthens Medicare, have to do with NAFTA?

The reason Boehner rejected the deal is that it included unemployment benefits, infrstructure spending and more stimulus.

In the coal town where I grew up, that was a one-two punch that moved the county from reliably blue, we-bleed-UMWA to hard red.
