Very excited and happy about the Kerry nomination today

The Associated Press ‏@AP

BREAKING: AP Source: Obama to nominate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., as next secretary of state on Friday.

I still have a blue Kerry bumpersticker on the back window of my pickup truck. It just feels right to have it there, for all sides of the political landscape to take in.

I am still disappointed he Did not win the presidency. Opportunity lost. I am concerned about the Senate seat, though. Anything on that

. . . but I wouldn't expect anything like the Brown victory to unfold. They were burned once . . . then they cleaned house. It's still a Democratic state, and it just voted like one this past November.

6. 2013 won't be 2010 for the Dem candidate who'll have Kerry's and Obama's GOTV teams all over Mass

Does anyone really believe Dems in Massachusetts will take a senate seat for granted again?

8. Maybe Obama should just ask for GOP directions each morning before starting work.

He let them *pick* his Secretary of State. Not just vote on HIS choice-- PICK them.

That's *almost* funny.

. . . as gospel.

You fail to explain why in the world republicans would want someone they've opposed for decades on foreign policy in the job of SoS. How's that again?

How ignorant do you have to be to buy into that spin that republicans were herding Obama into choosing their arch rival in the Senate on foreign affairs (and more) to direct the President's foreign policy from the head of the State Dept.. You have to just close off all avenues of rational thought to pull that one out of your ass.

11. So you think... what? All that was some of kind of meaningless ruse?

Just a fake out for no reason at all? Or... a bizarre attempt at reverse psychology? And after publicly pushing for Kerry, they would then vote against him...? Someone's certainly talking out of their ass here, I can't deny that.

There's been no shortage of commentary speculating on why they were doing that-- surely you didn't miss it. It all centers around numbers in the Senate, Scott Brown, etc.

I've got to say, it must be dizzying for you to reinterpret everyone's meaning all the time. When Republicans say "Kerry" they really mean, "please, not Kerry". When Obama says, "Chained CPI", he really means, "no way no how on Chained CPI".
