Because of previous attacks on schools. That is the most moronic of them all. Adam Lanza is not likely to have clearly thought it through like that - I'll attack a school because there are no guns already there. Sure. Then there would be no movie theater attacks, or attacks in any public place.

Especially today, when those poor parents and families are mourning one week since it happened.

The 2nd Amendment is not superior to the right to raise our children in a peaceful setting where guns aren't necessary...the way it used to be in this country not so long ago. If the only answer LaPierre and his nutty supporters have is a stifling arms race, then they need to be reminded that amendments can be REPEALED.
