It is the media's fault. It is the video game's fault.
We need armed guards in every school. We have too many crazy people.
Guns are good. The NRA can help w/ the school's gun violence problems.
The man really is taking a dump into the punch bowl.

(13,776 posts)It's how they learned how to use the guns, how much damage they can do, and how to be comfortable with using them.
So, gun safety education and training doesn't stop them from doing what they're going to do.

(46,051 posts)This is a disaster for them, imho. I can't imagine anyone but Louie Gomert supporting them openly after this.

(70,508 posts)... and i kept thinking well why do you want to make it easier for them to get guns
and high capacity magazines that will let them kill and wound more people? And who
the hell is going to pay for all these additional school security guards?
And yes Louie Gohmert is a lost case.

(13,992 posts)for any member of Congress who wants to vote in favor of gun control. Since LaPierre rules the NRA with an iron fist, there's nobody to stop him from doing this.

(26,044 posts)Watch this turn into a debate on eeeeeeeeeeeevil video games and rap videos. Basically, he's giving conservatives the ammunition -- as it were -- to be able to brush off what happened last week, and blame it on the amorphous "entertainment industry" instead of anything to do with guns. Sorry if I'm pessimistic, but I think you'll see his talking points get amplified by the right-wing echo chamber until it drowns out all else. And the NRA wins again.

(46,716 posts)I hope Saturday Night Live can do a quickie skit with a classroom full of armed guards to reflect the kind of world that the NRA wants us to live in.

(15 posts)That would be a great idea, but, considering how recent it is and how incredibly sensitive things are, they won't.
But a great idea.
