Migrants in America driven underground like Anne Frank's family

...the only thing missing are the executions, athough deaths have already happened in Trump ICE custody.

It's still mostly comfortable for many Americans to suppose they're safe from a government which arbitrarily seizes people off of the streets, from workplaces, from school, from churches, from hospitals, and even outside of scheduled hearings where judges confirm they are complying with the terms of their agreements to remain in the country.

That's the only thing that's preventing the same panic and anguish that undocumented migrants and naturalized citizens alike are experiencing. Once ICE gets their claws into someone and jail them, it's almost a certainty that they'll fond some reason to keep them in custody until they can eventually deport them to wherever they please.

Imagine the terror of being uprooted from the life that was promised to you here. Put yourself in the place of these people who came to this country to work or live in safety, many now profiled and targeted because of the color of their skin or their assumed Mexican or Latin American nationality.

Latino bishop says some of his pastors are holding church services with the doors locked because ‘they are scared immigration agents will burst through the door at any moment’

Some seized are just outright American citizens. Others were brought here by their parents as children and not only have been raised here, but have spent their money here and paid taxes without any chance of the benefits that other children raised here enjoy.

Where's the fairness in refusing to return them to their country of origin? What's the actual point other than just cruelty, and why would a great nation that has prided itself on it's 'melting pot' of nationalities treat people from other countries with such disdain and insult?

The answer is certainly in the propaganda and lies that the right wing has employed in their political efforts to remove what they (still) claim without any proof at all are Democrats who illegally vote in our elections.

Mahmoud Khalil has filed a $20 million damages claim against the Trump administration for falsely imprisoning, maliciously prosecuting, and smearing as an antisemite as the government sought to deport him over his role in campus protests at Columbia.

They've also labeled the men, women, and children we see working alongside of us, or in service of us in our communities as violent criminals - this from a political class of Trump sycophants who are the ONLY political group in America whose supporters are openly attacking and, in some cases, killing their political opponents.

Get your head around that. The party that elected a rapist, convicted of 34 felony counts of essentially election fraud has supporters who have violently attacked the Democratic Speaker of the House's husband with a hammer, and murdered two firefighters.

One of Trump's supporters executed one Democratic legislator and her husband in Minnesota, and also shot another state Democrat and his wife- shot him nine times, and his wife eight, and they're complaining about a working class of immigrants being a threat to someone.

Authorities found "voluminous writings" in the shooting suspect's vehicle and at his home. They say he'd been planning and researching lawmakers for several months (and had a "hit list" of 45 elected officials — all Democrats.

Thing is, this campaign against immigrants has always been about an idiocratic lure for poor white Americans to vote republican on the pretext that they will rid these sorry rubes of the source of all of their problems.

It's incredibly frustrating how easily people will believe poor, sick, and marginalized people are the cause for all their problems, rather than the ones in the most powerful positions in government who refuse to fix problems and exploit them, instead.

In the budget fight they just waged against Americans, we can see how the WH cynically exploited congressional republicans' immigrant crackdown con to advantage this autocratic criminal Executive with a mostly unaccountable and secret police force as they voted for permanent tax breaks for themselves and temporary piffles for the vast majority of taxpayers, claiming all along that there's some sort of emergency that necessitates removing workers from their jobs, children from schools, sick from hospital, and reneging on others who have already made agreements with the government and courts to remain.

It's political, less than it's ideological, and it's essentially a threat waged by the Trump regime against Democratic-majority, or Democratic-led states and cities, like in California, or like the report this week that says Trump is looking at a military-based takeover of the District of Columbia on the same phony pretext of some 'emergency' that none of the elected officials of the District have declared or agreed to.

We're all next, as we sit and often stare with disbelief at the abominable mayhem in our Latino and other ethnically diverse communities. Other individuals' anguish will not be as evident to Americans until we, ourselves have experienced it personally.

Recall Anne Frank and her family as you consider our nation's future, and every other person disappeared by anyone else in the world using autocratic powers to threaten and harm those they seek to dominate.

After the Nazis came to power in January 1933, Otto Frank (Anne Frank’s father) left Frankfurt, Germany, for Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The rest of the Frank family soon followed. Anne was the last family member to arrive in Amsterdam in February 1934. In July 1942, German authorities began systematically deporting Jews from throughout the Netherlands to concentration camps and killing centers in the east. That same month, the Frank family went into hiding. They remained in hiding for the next two years. The German SS and police discovered the Frank family in 1944 and deported them to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Later that year, Anne and her sister Margot were transported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Anne and Margot died in Bergen-Belsen in February or March 1945.

Don't imagine for a minute that the terror isn't just as real and devastating among our foreign-origin communities and individuals today.

They have no way of knowing their ultimate fate if they fall into the hands of Trump's Gestapo, and no assurance that the Americans who they so graciously and earnestly worked, worshiped with, and struggled to survive among would even care about their fate as much as that oft-exampled Jewish family hiding from Hitler's own devastating political vendetta.

Some ICE admits to.
Other deaths have been kept secret.

...we're at the criminal neglect stage, which is just a rung down from deliberately killing these folks.

So many languished and died in Hitler's and other murderous dictator's concentration prisons.

The ICE agents are poorly trained, undisciplined, hateful and angry.
And anonymous and answer to no one.

We only know what they are telling us which could be cover stories.

This all points in a very bad direction.

...except, maybe, in the degree of murder which they're charged with.

Impossible to identify them for prosecution?

Unless they start ratting each other out.

With what happened yesterday in CA--flash bang grenades, rubber bullets, tear gas, I don't think executions are far behind, and trump is all for it. Just killing people would be far easier than giving them due process, or just shipping them off somewhere.

We are all in trouble.

ICE has arrested a 6-yr old with cancer. And now it's arrested a 71-yr old Grandmother - Barbara Stone. The one thing they had in common?

They are both American citizens!

...good thing DU isn't letting threads like this fall.

This will be a more popular subject when it's not just 'others' getting snatched and roughed up for dissenting.

Oh, wait...
