(45,251 posts)It is no surprise that Kerry wanted an end to the Vietnam War.
He was right.

(57,936 posts)I know people who voted against him in 2004, yes, 2004, because of his stance on the Viet Nam War. It is a shame, but it is true.

(45,274 posts)Really--for many of us, Kerry's antiwar position, and his role in investigating Iran-Contra, are his strongest recommendations.

(57,936 posts)I think we need Kerry in the Senate. He calms people down. That is why he would make a good Secretary of State, but it is also why we need him in the Senate. He is reasonable and just a really good man. We have far too few who are as patient as he in the Senate. I just don't want to see him go. He is patient to a fault, but really a good Democrat in the Senate.

(45,274 posts)another good candidate. I'm not at all unhappy to see him as SoS, for precisely those qualities that you name.

Are they proud of that
At least Kerry tried to stop it

(58,179 posts)It won't make a difference. For good or ill, and no matter what anyone thinks of him, Kerry's nomination is going to sail through the Senate at supersonic speed.
RomneyLies
(3,333 posts)Any Senator that does so is saying, "any future presidents out there, never never EVER nominate me for ANYTHING."
Of course, most Senators look in the mirror and believe they see a future president, too.

(970 posts)There's also one of Kerry and John Lennon too. I'm not on FB, but maybe a DUer could get one rolling?

(45,274 posts)As Pitt said elsewhere on this thread, Kerry will sail. The Republicans want a another crack at his seat with Brownie.
Whatever morans are circulating anti-Kerry stuff just now are doing so with no conception of the role his nomination plays in the world of Republican Realpolitik. They will be roundly ignored by both sides.
