These detainees are living in cages....32 individuals per cage...3 tiny toilets

per cage... Debbie Wasserman Schultz just now after touring Alligator Alcatraz. She said they drink and brush their teeth out of the same water as they poop. This is close to an exact quote.

This was a live press conference on MSNBC a few seconds ago, but Alex Witt interrupted it after the second or third sentence. It was BREAKING NEWS!!!

This is beyond a cruel, disgusting, disgrace. The president and his cabal, have turned our country into what he once referred to as shit hole countries.

That is unfortunately vague.

You could say the same about most of us, in the sense we drink and shower and wash clothes OUT of the same water SOURCE as we poop i.e. our toilet water is the same as our drinking water, we've just not pooped into it beforehand.

I question the idea that detainees are being treated so horribly that they're given untreated toilet water as their drinking source. That's beyond the pale even for this vicious, fascist cabal currently mis-running this country.

That said, I could very easily see a scenario where they have nothing to drink but 'grey water' i.e. recycled, treated sewage.

Which is horrible enough, and it is irresponsible to be caught in hyperbole about the situation when it's not necessary. I say that because if one part of a statement you make is untrue, it gives people an excuse to not believe any other part of it.

Regardless of the reality of this particular detail, this is a horrific and dire situation, and this concentration camp needs to be shut the fuck down. Trump doesn't get to create CECOT - North just because the courts aren't letting him ship innocent people off to the real thing

Probably not enough to install a sewage pipe. Which means the same water source for drinking has to be used to fill their toilet?

"They drink, brush, and defecate in the same tiny unit."

Which is entirely different, of course, and while untoward, is the general condition of prisons in the USA.

Also, OP: I was not meaning anything towards you here, I assumed the congresswoman was being inaccurate, and your account was correct. All good if you just misheard, that was the reality I was hoping for

to the best of my ability. But I did hear it live and it didn't sound like the words you just posted. My account is pretty close, and I don't remember her using the words defecate at all, and that sentence isn't what I heard. I definitely heard the word "poop". Of course she could have said your account later, since Witt got off the press conference almost immediately.

I was a registered nurse, there is a type of toilet which has on top of the tank area a small sink with a faucet. The water for both comes through the same pipe, but the water is not recycled from the toilet outlet to the faucet.

Whether it is to save money, degrade incarcerated people, or both, I don't know. It isn't really necessarily unsanitary though, and I've never seen incarcerated people soil the faucet/sink.

I'm just saying there's no need for hyperbole when it comes to exposing what the Regime is up to. 100% actual fact is all that is necessary to illustrate their utter lack of regard for humanity, decency, the Constitution, and the rule of law. MHO, fwiw.

stick to the facts which are unprecedentedly bad. Any use of hyperbole should be absolutely made clear as a rhetorical device.

My cousins are all over the East Bay as well as Santa Clara County. I remember going to the Alameda County Fair back in the 60's and seeing the trailer for a Bigfoot exhibit.

Incredible. Feeling less safe here by the day. Discussed leaving with my wife, but the trouble is I’m terminally ill. No better nation would take us. (My wife does have 5 degrees, including a PhD. After I’m gone, if things remain on the current trajectory she should leave.)

In the Everglades around Auschwitz there is typically a few feet of water on top of 10's of feet of muck - the lime stone sits below some 30, 40, 50 feet. With the hastily transformed facility it is difficult to image that the permit requirements would allow anything other than a shallow well without the appropriate impact studies.
For this reason it is reasonable to believe waste water is being dumped on or near the surface, and fresh water is being pumped from above the deeper lime stone below. The statement that they drink and brush their teeth out of the same water that they poop could very well be true.

Treatment of these innocent people whose only fault is they wanted to live a better life in the US.

I hope the international community starts to treat him as a pariah. No state visits or welcoming gestures. He needs to be treated like the monster villain he is! The last time I was in Europe in 2019 the people I met asked how could you elect this guy? I told them I never voted for him and think he is an awful person and I was ashamed he was elected. I am too embarrassed now to go overseas and even afraid to fly because of what he has done to the FAA.
