2026 House & Senate Elections

I know we are along ways away but there is already tv talking heads clamoring about it...

With the house currently at 219-212 with Mark Greens recent resignation and the democratic vacancies being filled by November the house will be 219-215. I see us winning the house (if we still have a democracy) even if it is just by a few seats.

How about the senate? I know it is a tough road for the DEMS because we are defending seats such as Georgia, Michigan and NH but we also have a good shot at NC and Maine. How about Ohio? Especially if Sherrod Brown jumps into that race? Alaska? The state is moving left. What about Mitch McConnell's' seat in KY? I know Andy Beshear said he was not running, what a shame.

Any thoughts here?

Not impossible, but I'd put the odds at 10-15%. Even if the overall climate is bad for Republicans, it depends on the makeup of individual states. Remember in 2018 Democrats took 41 seats in the House, but we STILL lost two in the Senate.

It's still early though.

We really need to be able to win in those last two states.

and think his chances would be much better in 2026 than they were in 2024....
the bad news, from what I have read, is that he might be leaning more towards
running for governor of Ohio... (bad news for the Senate, anyway)

It will be tough, but not entirely impossible for the Democrats to retake the Senate in '26---
but in my humble opinion, Trump is going to be a bigger drag on the GOP ticket in 2026
than he was in 2018.... and if people are getting pissed off at him now,
how will they feel in another 16 months???

We should definitely make a fight for the US Senate next year.

The independent candidate in Nebraska is running again for 2026,
a state which is being ignored in the current calculus--- but lightning could strike there!

(Home state of some populist Democratic politicians, back around the late 1800s- early 1900s...)
