Rachel Maddow Should Run To Be The Next Senator From Massachusetts

In order for Democrats to win – they’re going to need someone with name recognition since the election will be fast. Scott Brown already has a strong lead with all potential Democrats for this seat including Governor Patrick according to a new poll released today (source); the Democratic party needs someone who will galvanize the liberal movement to vote …. someone who will represent the liberal values of the people of Massachusetts. Rachel Maddow is that person.

She is pro gay marriage; she is gay married. Massachusetts residents are happy with gay marriage (source).
She is pro gun control. Massachusetts has strict gun laws and residents prefer it that way.
She is against cutting Social Security and Medicare; Massachusetts do not want to see the social safety net being cut.
She believes in stronger regulations and higher taxes on the rich; Massachusetts just voted for Elizabeth Warren who is the icon for smarter regulations and advocated for higher taxes on the rich.
She believes in the separation of church and state; Massachusetts residents want a secular government.
She doesn’t want America to attack Iran to annex them as the 51st state for their oil; Massachusetts residents are against more war for oil.
She’s pro-alternative energy
She’s against fracking
She wants to eliminate tax subsidies for oil companies
She thinks government should stop trying to legislate a woman’s vagina

There are a whole host of things that Rachel Maddow stands for that represents the interests of Massachusetts residents; I could go on endlessly. She is and has been at her core a passionate liberal activist. She’s smart and she’s snarky. She has impeccable integrity and at her core she has the interests of the masses as her concern. She has shown time and time again her willingness to speak out against the interests of wealthy corporations. I realize she’s unlikely to run for Senate, but can you imagine the conservative freak-out from conservatives if she actually announced her intention to run?

Although part of me thinks her voice on tv and radio may be even more valuable than having her in the Senate. IIRC, Scott Brown has used the possibilty of Rachel running against him in fundraising letters in the past. (Even when she vocally said she wasn't)

Vicki Kennedy and Edward Kennedy Jr. No idea if there's any there there, but I could be happy about another Sen Kennedy from Mass.

but I think she does more good on television. If she would ever run for office, I would be an avid supporter!
