The conservative argument seems to be less or none is better. For Abortion, the Conservatives want none. They call the women who have them some of the foulest names I won't repeat. They want the people who provide them locked up without any chance of parole for life. For drugs, the Conservatives say none. No way, no how, no time. I'll skip the obvious hypocrisy that they have regarding alcohol, and stay with the thread. They want the users locked up, unless its a relative, then a slap on the wrist if they're caught and rehab. They want dealers locked up for life. They want the people who make drugs locked up for life. Social programs. Almost none is better than some, but none would be awesome.
But when we come to guns, more is the best answer. So we have a problem in America if one woman has an abortion. That is too many. We have a problem that we must address if one person is on Welfare. We have a problem if one person is using drugs. Problems that can only be solved by eliminating the offending practice or people via long prison terms. Yet when we come to guns, with all the harm they do, the best answer is more?
Is it me, or does this make about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

The construct you have sketched also applies to fetuses. More fetuses, the most fetuses possible, the more fetuses you can generate without any restrictions whatsoever, other than a requirement for hetero marriage, is the best situation, but fewer people is the best too, because in order for there to be such a thing as upper class it must be small in size.
