I'm going to be flamed here...

The gun control proposals will not work.

Criminals and gun fetishists will ignore those laws.

The NRA's proposals are bullshit.

But banning big-capacity magazines, assault rifle band, the criminals and nutcased will ignore.

I have a .22 handgun.

That's all I want. For now.

2. Some people will ignore the ban on drunk driving, so everyone should be allowed to drive drunk.

Outlawing meth didn't get it off the streets, and now only the bad guys have meth. Obviously the answer is to arm everyone with MORE METH. That way the good guys will have meth too.

Yes criminals might have something else, but in long term we'll be better off.

Bank robbers insist on robbing banks, though that is against the law. Get rid of such laws?
Rapists ignore laws against rape. Ditto.
Thieves ignore laws against stealing. Lets get rid of those.

People who decide to be criminals ignore the laws. That is reality. But it is madness to revoke the laws because criminals will ignore them.

Banning high-capacity magazines doesn't affect your .22.

We don't have to control anything, we just have to make it super expensive to own a fire arm. We should start by implementing a yearly registration fee for each fire arm that you own. $250 being the least amount, and it would increase from there.

Semi-Automatic rifles that fire rounds .223 and up would cost $600 per year, sniper rifles of .50 caliber would be a $1,200 yearly registration fee. We should tack on a liability insurance cost on top of it, along with a mandatory certificate of marksmanship & gun safety which would have to be renewed every 2 years.

The only thing that in my opinion should be banned is the private sale of guns, shotguns & rifles.

Most law breakers will pretty much advertise that they are breaking laws.

Drunk drivers, murderers, etc.

If laws are enacted against owning assault rifles, or big-capacity magazines, how can law enforcement know these people are breaking those laws?
Search all houses to make sure they aren't breaking the law?

Don't forget all the assault rifles and high-capacity magazines out there now.
Going to have law enforcers search and confiscate all those that they CAN find?

What I would like to see is a licensing system the way we have for cars.

Want a gun?
A person would need to be trained in how to have a gun before they can have one, with a license.

High-powered guns like assault weapons would need a special license the way truck drivers do now.
