Kerry Biographer, David Brinkley, was interviewed last night and said he thinks that Deval Patrick will appoint Vicki Kennedy as interim senator and then Deval Patrick would run for the seat himself.
Here is the clip. Toward the end is where Brinkley makes statement regarding Kerry's seat:

I think Deval would stand a good chance if he runs.

(32,086 posts)I understand that Ted, Jr. is also very interested in the job. Either one of these men could easily handle Scott Brown. I really wish people would stop the damn hand-wringing. John Kerry is pushing 70. Let him go out doing what he wanted most. He deserves that much.

(31,828 posts)For any candidate that runs on the Democratic ticket - but did some research on Capuano . . . He IS very appealing as a candidate.

(27,315 posts)And Brinkley does not know. He is repeating rumors. There are others giving Barney Frank or Mike Dukakis as the interim senator.
I am all for Patrick changing his mind. I think he would be a fantastic senator. But at some point, you have to trust him when he says he will not run.
