Because every time ANY measure is put forth to improve registration, expand or expedite background checks, or any other efforts to "keep the bad guy from getting the gun," the NRA fights it tooth and nail!
They always use the slippery slope argument to scare their gun huggers into believing it's just the first step in taking away their guns.
