Toon: The reparative therapy session you'll never see

The “Reparative Therapy” Session You’ll Never See “Homophobia is a lifestyle choice. Just because you have bigoted urges, you don’t have to act on them.Through prayer, we can train it out of you.” (source)

This toon by Chan Lowe was from the 7/17/11 South Florida Sun-Sentinel. This toon may be old but given the ongoing litigation over California's new ban on reparative therapy it's still relevant. On Friday, a three-judge panel of the 9th circuit court of appeals in San Francisco (according to talk radio etc. the most liberal court in the nation) put a hold on the law pending a hearing.

their responses to the world. Just because you feel a certain way, that doesn't mean you are right or that you have a right to act on those feelings.

In fact, I'd guess most people have inappropriate reactions to things for whatever reasons, but in a civil society we need to stop and think. We need to recognize that our upbringing may have instilled beliefs that need questioning, and that our "lizard brains" send us messages that are fear-based and often not reality-based.
