Clinton wanted to put cops in schools too

in the wake of Columbine. Frankly, I don't see a downside to this.

snip:

Clinton also unveiled the $60-million fifth round of funding for "COPS in School," a Justice Department program that helps pay the costs of placing police officers in schools to help make them safer for students and teachers. The money will be used to provide 452 officers in schools in more than 220 communities.

"Already, it has placed 2,200 officers in more than 1,000 communities across our nation, where they are heightening school safety as well as coaching sports and acting as mentors and mediators for kids in need," Clinton said.

how many police would be in a school? when would they get involved? when someone has already been killed?

since he's promoting guns, the onous is on the NRA to provide a complete solution.

basterdizing a piece of the constitution and saying that guns without responsibility are everyone's right is no longer acceptable.

in fact, it has never been about a true discussion, but about money, votes and power. There may now be enough people to counter the traditional nra legacy of fear.

3. I have learned through the decades to be more scared of deranged cops

than to be scared of the remote possibility of a deranged armed mass killer. The likelihood of being tazed or shot by a cop is much higher than being shot by any other stranger.

...on the NRA and Republican response at this moment (as well I think as the OP motives)
"
Clinton's proposals drew instant comment from Republicans.

"The White House conference on teenagers is sure to draw national headlines and attention, but unlikely to add new light to these troubling questions," said Rep. J.C. Watts Jr. (R-Okla.), chairman of the House Republican Conference. He said the solutions will be found around America's kitchen tables, "not from Washington or from posturing politicians."

Republican National Committee Chairman Jim Nicholson accused Clinton of having "shamelessly politicized and taken advantage of national tragedies" while ignoring the films, television programs and music videos Nicholson said are responsible for creating "a culture of death" among youthful Americans. Instead of using his office to combat the entertainment industry, Clinton has chosen to use the industry as a source of campaign cash, he said."

Here's my fucking motive. I think it's a good idea to have cops in schools. I want my grandkids to have a fighting chance if some whack job shows up with a gun. So did the Dems back in 2000.

As I've stated in a previous post, my nephew works in one of the most dangerous schools in NYC. A lot of gang members attend the school. They haven't had one school shooting. They have very tight security there.

but thanks for the Clinton smear.

In 1992, they did not have that many terrorist NRA events.

It is easier now just to ourright change the constitution, or the courts, and have guns
