And it's the Republicans who keep blocking sensible gun control.

(51,817 posts)children with military style weapons. These mass shootings are hard enough to understand, but why on earth do they target children? Truly beyond comprehension.

(7,283 posts)class of people we have in the United States aren't Hispanic, or any other "group" of immigrants. They're our own homegrown white, xtian, straight men. As a whole, they should never be let near weapons of war or weapons of any kind, actually, IMO. They are far too emotional and are completely driven by testosterone and ego. The combination of which is dangerous for anyone around them.
I do make exceptions, of course. I won't condemn the entire sliver of males, but this has been proven time after time after time. Men should NEVER be put in sole power over anything that impacts others lives, at least, not without supervision. It just makes me so angry every time I hear someone spout the old, tired meme of women being too emotional for high office, or that she'll be screwed up a week or two every month and likely hit the nuke button because of it. Men are so much more likely to fit that description, and you can't even trace their "time of the month!"

(42,251 posts)They don't seem to know how to handle their emotions. Sure it's upsetting when your wife or girlfriend leaves you, but how often do we hear about them going off the deep end over it?
Stalking, kidnapping, posting nude photos online. A woman might do this, too, but it's very rare.

(78,461 posts)It is about guns, and the easy access that severely disturbed individuals have to them. Our opposition, of course, will attempt to distract from this.

(17,240 posts)I cannot erase those pictures in my head. Seeing them was like a gut punch to me. To this day I can't wrap my mind around how anyone in this country could just go about their daily lives having seen this on the news and not demand that we finally do something about this gun fetish that white males have in this country.
We live in a very sick country.

And right there with it, a sign that says -
'Leaving it at half-staff. The next mass shooting will be happening any second. All thanks to the GOP.'

(16,452 posts)It's familiar, I do the same. I get so angry that words seem to get stuck sideways and that's when the tears come, and with that release the words get out. I sat here and cried with her.
As I noted elsewhere, when congress gets back to work the republican majority will be more concerned about making sure that their precious assault rifles are kept safe from the blood of children.

(24 posts)The State legislature is evenly split, There are 500,000 + registered hunters in the State. The mayor has power over over the city council and he's a corporatist and the money, as always, will say no. The mayor's only serious challenger turns out to be an unsavory character and the only progressive in the race. And the city DFL caucus vote was a clusterf*ck. So now the city DFL is under sanctions with the State DFL. I asked a good friend if she thought anything would change. She asked me if I had started drinking again.
