Chuck Schumer's analogy: Guns/Mass Murder and Cigarettes/Lung Cancer

He made a simple comment on MTP about Wayne LaPierre's spreading blame willy-nilly all over the place:

"Talking about Mass Murder without talking about guns, is like talking about Lung Cancer and not mention cigarettes."

edited to put the c in Schumer

blame everything *BUT* guns for the deaths and violence. They won't consider any type of new gun laws or restrictions. No, their answer is more fucking guns!

It's all about profitability. Gun Mfg. fund the NRA, to promote more guns, any type of guns and ammo, no restrictions allowed. Cop killers, assault rifles, grenades, all are just peachy with the NRA and the only possible answer is more of the above. The NRA doesn't give a fuck about children or killing - they just want more guns. If guns stopped mass killings, why was the guy at Ft. Hood so successful when completely surrounded by folks with guns? Why did Columbine happen when there was an armed guard? Armed guards don't help, there will never be enough of them to thwart a determined killer. Stop giving the killers easy access to the means for their thrills is the answer. Really strong background checks, national mental health registry, no 2ndary mkt for guns, gun & ammo buy backs, no guns for any convicted felon, no guns for anyone a mental health provider has listed as dangerous - these are the things that will help curb this insanity. Mandatory mental health coverage is an important piece to this as well.

It was expected back in the day. Glad to be rid of it, since 2005.

Or like talking about outlawing abortion without talking about outlawing war and death penalty.

Or like talking about Bush tax cuts for "job creators" without talking about where hell the Bush tax cut job creators' jobs are, because they haven't been created in America the last 10 years!

The "guns make you safe" meme is like doctors in cigarette ads.
