Republicans like Rush Limbaughand his dittoheads joked about Paul Wellsones death. Then they were crazy upset about Wellsones funeral being politicized. Everything reversed about Charlie Kirk

(42,564 posts)It used to be in politics of once you exposed someones bad side it would have an effect. Not anymore, and in fact it maybe just increases their popularity with the butt-hurt bros. Frustrating, the way a group of adolescent boys is frustrating, when they start bullying and taunting somebody or showing off

(29,034 posts)Wellstone's funeral was a private, religious service. What made the wingnuts crazy was the public memorial to the public man.

It came off really bad and we ended up losing his seat because of it.

Not that CHEENEE would be wanted there, but the Repub senatorial colleagues who went were booed and harassed.

.... The memorial service for Wellstone and the other victims of the crash was held in Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota and broadcast live on national TV.[43] The lengthy service was dotted with political speeches, open advocacy on political issues, and a giant beach ball batted around the crowd in the style of a beach party. Many high-profile politicians attended the memorial, including former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and more than half the U.S. Senate. The White House offered to send Vice President Dick Cheney to the service, but the Wellstone family declined.[44] ....

(8,141 posts)Wellstone didn't preach hatred and division and honestly cared about the world we live in and its people. A guy "too woke" for sure, but one hell of a man this world sadly didn't get enough of.

(2,527 posts)It really does seem like those plane crashes always happen to prominent Democrats. Paul Wellstone, Jerry Litton, Mel Carnahan ... The only Republican I can think of was John Tower, but he was out of office and had been for quite a while. There was nothing suspicious about that one; it really was just an accident.
Litton, in my opinion, would have been president eventually.

(1,787 posts)I used to participate in something called "The Political Playground" on a New England Patriots fan site called "Patriots Planet". The people in there were kind of the anti-matter to the majority political views of Massachusetts. Gun nuts, climate change and vaccine deniers, "libertarians" (except when the government was imposing right wing policies that they liked).
When Ted Kennedy died, there were 4 or 5 celebratory threads. Most of the people there weren't very bright and it was kind of fun to make sport of them, but it became too much after Trump was re-elected - removed my account.

Bob Grant, the radio talk show host who for more than 25 years has provoked outrage with his derogatory comments about black and Hispanic people, was abruptly taken off the air yesterday after facing criticism for a remark he made following the death of Ronald H. Brown, the Commerce Secretary.
Through his afternoon radio show on WABC-AM, which is broadcast throughout the New York region, Mr. Grant has become a flashpoint in the debate over whether talk radio has gone too far. He has referred to blacks as "savages," and has got prominent politicians into trouble for appearing on his program.
A two-sentence statement released late yesterday by Capital Cities/ABC Inc., said the relationship between the company and Mr. Grant "has been terminated by mutual agreement." But several industry officials said there was no doubt that Mr. Grant had been dismissed.
The last straw, they said, was a comment by Mr. Grant on his show on April 3 after initial news reports about the crash from Croatia said there might be one survivor. "My hunch is that he is the one survivor," Mr. Grant said, according to a transcript of his program provided by Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, a media watchdog organization based in Manhattan. "I just have that hunch. Maybe it's because, at heart, I'm a pessimist."
