A majority of American voters seem to prefer to live under the rule of the biggest asshole in modern history.
They've repeatedly voted for this verbally abusive bully who has the emotional maturity of a 6 year old and the attention span of a knat.
The only silver lining is that Trump is old, tired, in horrible physical shape and (hopefully) out of office in 3 years and 4 months.
However the despicable hate monger Stephen Miller is actually running things and he's basically a younger version of Trump without the cognitive impairment. He does the dirty work knowing his boss will sign off on any idea no matter how cruel and racist.
What's truly sad is 77 million Americans chose this path and are perfectly fine with where he's taking us.
I think it all comes down to the fact that most Americans don't vote in elections and either see voting as pointless or too much of a chore. That's how you end up with awful leaders like Trump.
The truly sad thing is that if Trump did run again in 2028 he'd without a doubt win the Republican nomination and possibly a third term as leader of the free world. And the people who don't vote and never will vote won't even care.

Trump with his narcissistic grandiose personality, along with the largest nuclear arsenal on earth at his command, and cadre of sycophants all willing to do his bidding, he might just decide to take everyone else along with him

I'm just warming up and yes, it is disturbing, and I wouldn't put it beyond trump

They would assure you that voting would make no difference at all and that their lives have nothing to do with this.

(33,820 posts)you belong to a murder-suicide cult.
I mean, everytime I start thinking how many people
have to die before the country becomes sane again,
I have to remember that the murder-suicide cult
just doesn't fucking care.

(998 posts)I've met a lot of smart people over the last 10 years who are proud of the fact they don't vote and refuse to follow the news. They are willfully ignorant and resent people who aren't.
When politics becomes an unavoidable subject like during a presidential election they usually take the view that both parties are horrible and no matter who wins we're all screwed. And they're convinced that Democrats are worse because we're all socialists who want to raise their taxes to pay for government handouts to deadbeats.
And they're dedicated to avoiding any of the crazy things Trump says or tweets. Out of sight out of mind. All they know is he looks presidential and sounds like a strong leader. So they figure everything is fine.
They are either unaware of Trump's criminality, corruption and cruelty or they pretend they don't know anything about it.
