Hypocrisy is a main feature of fascism

I think it's important to remember that fascists seek to dominate and that what seems like hypocrisy to most is actually their show of force, that the rules don't apply to them. Free speech only applies to who they want it to apply to. Political violence is fine for them and an outrage for anyone else. On and on we are seeing a double standard, but that's the point for Trump and his cabal, they have the power to do whatever they want, the other side doesn't. And they're claiming all sorts of power and credit for things they didn't even do.

I think it's important to know all of this because throwing their own hypocrisy in their face is ineffective and will be met with, "Yup, ha ha."

a matter of semantics, i suppose, but i think "hypocrisy" is when you believe in a general principle, but then don't apply it to yourself or your team or your side. in the usual case, most people know they are violating their own principles and can be shamed or eventually will acknowledge they are being inconsistent.

fascists aren't inconsistent at all. on the contrary, they are quite consistent. the only principles they have focus on power and rights of the "in" group at the expense of "others".

they're not being inconsistent when they say they have free speech but "others" don't, because that's exactly the principle they believe in. if they ever say something that seems to acknowledge rights and powers of "others", they're lying. they believe in a hierarchical society with themselves on top and others beneath them.

so i don't see fascism as being "hypocritical". i see it as having a principles that are fundamentally unfairly allocated and evil.

Better than I could have said it. This is their plan, to have a different set of rules for those in power. And you're even seeing it in how they attack Dems, claiming some Dems are doing real estate scams when that's what Trump built his entire life around. Claiming Dems are using violent rhetoric while Trump is calling the media the enemy of the people and threatening to label protesters as terrorists.

A common Voltaire quote about absurdities is:

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities".
