Texas A&M University president Mark A. Welsh III is set to resign Friday Sept. 19, after a professor's recent firing amid controversy over a viral video concerning "gender ideology' in the classroom.
President Welsh is a man of honor who has led Texas A&M with selfless dedication, said Chancellor Glenn Hegar said in a statement released by the college. We are grateful for his service and contributions. At the same time, we agree that now is the right moment to make a change and to position Texas A&M for continued excellence in the years ahead.
Hegar and the school's board announced the former Air Force Chief of Staff General "will step down from his role" effective Friday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m.
Hegar thanked Welsh for his service to the university and the nation, and applauded "his leadership in advancing student success, research growth, and community engagement at Texas A&M."
General Welshs legacy of leadership and service is one that the Aggie family will always remember," Board of Regents Chairman Robert Albritton said. "The Board of Regents is united in ensuring that this transition strengthens the universitys future and keeps Texas A&M true to its mission and values."

The brownshirts have taken over there, although I'm still unclear as to what the whole "controversy" was about.

Basically, it's a video of a student (never seen) questioning the professor and the legality of what she's teaching. The student says the president has said there are only two genders.... And a further tweet shows a letter from Rep Brian Harrison demanding an investigation into the continuing use of DEI and LGBTQ indocrination.

(13,085 posts)that the orange menace understands the fundamentals of even high school biology. If he took the class, is was eons ago, and he probably paid someone to take his exams, or just barely passed the course anyway. In any case, back then, ( I know, because I would have taken it about the same time), they didn't know much about the SRY gene, that pesky little critter that attaches to yourT chromosome in all sorts of ways and can meke you more masculine or feminine ( or possibly LBGTQ), or much about intersex people either, except that they had to "change" them surgically (some doctors still, unfortunately, think that way). In any case, what gives him the right to dictate?
