King on No Kings

“Time itself is neutral; it can be used either destructively or constructively. More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people. Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of men willing to work to be co-workers with God, and without this hard work, time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation. We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.”
―Martin Luther King Jr.,Why We Can't Wait

My associates and I are making plans for Saturday's rally. We have decided which one in our region we will attend. Our group continues to grow, and will be traveling a bit farther to be part of a larger rally in a nearby city.

In the past 96 hours, I have been re-reading two books: “Why We Can't Wait” (Martin Luther King, 1964) and “The Violence Project: How to Stop a Mass Shooting epidemic.” (Jillian Peterson & James Densley, Abrams Press, 2021). It is important, in my opinion, to focus on the teachings of Dr. King as we prepare. Thus, I have attempted to update Dr. King's ten commandments for nonviolence, since not all of current participants are Christians.

Chapter Seven of “The Violence Project” is titled “Hate.” In this chapter, the authors note that the felon is “responsible for fomenting a rise in hate and …. an increasing number of cases (of) violence (page 128). At this point, I anticipate that some of the more shallow maga thinkers may become more aggressive in their displays of disliking people exercising their Amendment 1 rights. How we respond is important.

That brings us to another concern, one that others have spoken about. There is a possibility that infiltrators will attempt to react – rather than respond – to planned provocations by the shallows. We need to be part of the larger group, yet at the same time, act as individuals to prevent violence. Surround and isolate any rally participant who appears to be reacting harshly to provocation.

We know that the felon and Stephen Miller – the worm in the felon's brain – want to inflict the Insurrection Act of 1807 on America. Later for that noise. We are acting to resurrect the Constitution and democracy. So be awake, be aware, stay safe, and have a great time. What we are doing tomorrow is extremely important.

Meditate daily on the teachings and tactics of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Remember always that the non-violent movement seeks justice and reconciliation - not victory.
Walk and talk in the manner of love, for “all you need is love.”
Work daily to be part of the movement in order that all people might be free.
Sacrifice personal wishes in order that all people might be free.
Observe with both friend and foe the ordinary rules of courtesy.
Seek to perform regular service for others and for the world.
Refrain from the violence of fist, tongue, or heart.
Strive to be in good mental and bodily health.
Follow the directions of the movement and of the captain on a demonstration.

I've been communicating with a number of old friends and associates today, who will be meeting up with us tomorrow. This should be fun.
