There is currently a law that bars departing Senators from becoming registered lobbyists for two years. In an interview released today, former Utah Republican Senator Bob Bennett complained about this cooling off period and said its a really bad idea designed to suppress his constitutional rights:

I think it's a great idea. In fact it should be a 5 yr cooling period and not 2.

That's not a bad idea either. I bet that is one way of getting them out of congress faster.

For every year they served they should not be able to lobby
example: serve 12 years, you can not lobby for 12 years
