(6,927 posts)Almost 90 years ago today, my Dad was born. I lost him 20 years ago to a pulmonary heart disease, in the middle of a stint operation. I miss him so much every single day (can you tell I was a Daddy's girl? gryn).
He fought fascists in WWII... he enlisted when he wasn't even 17 yet. Being a depression kid, and having lost his twin brother in a fire a few years earlier and being farmed out to other relatives, he saw the Army as an escape and a start on a career. He was a Medic, and it affected him his whole life. But he was proud as punch when I enlisted in the Air Force. I want to think he's looking in on me from somewhere in the ether, still proud of fighting fascists today! I'm sure I'll feel his spirit with me at the No Kings rally.
