Gallup finds Democrats have retaken the lead in party identification, 48% to 41%, the party’s best reading since the first quarter of the Biden administration.

4. Identification doesn't mean registration, though. They might identify as Dems, but might be registered as independents

especially if Gallup respondents live in red states.

6. I didn't think about that--- if I lived in a blood-red Trump state with voter registration by party,

I might not want to self-identify as a Democrat either, for god knows who what kind of gun nuts to be able to target me for a fascist-nazi drive-by shooting!!!

Might also be a good reason for all the "Democratic voter registrations falling" stories....

5. I suspect it'll be a little higher than that, by the time the midterm rolls around....

There have been a lot of news stories over the past couple years, about Dem voter registrations going down in different states--- but I think a lot of people have just been registering as independents but still identify as Democrats--- especially with the Republican tyrant in the White House again....


I'm in Michigan where we don't even have party registration---
everybody's an independent and can choose to vote either party ballot
for state or presidential primaries.

9. So, it looks like voters are not blaming Dems for the shutdown

It doesn't seem to be hurting the Democrats at all. When Dems act like Dems and fight for the little guy, the voters notice.

10. Even when most voters DON'T identify as Democrats

They prefer Democratic Party priorities. Consistently. Voters overwhelmingly support:
- Women's reproductive rights
- A progressive tax system
- Fair wages
- Affordable health care
- Affordable education
- Affordable housing
- Tariff-free trade
- Consumer protection
- Worker protection
- Guarantee of promised benefits
- Support of our allies
- Etc.
The problem is CERTAIN voters don't fully align their interests with their voting patterns. But this is good at least for the next voting cycle.
