Don't know if this has been broached, but smoke

and mirrors are a common ploy with this guy.
There is a master plan, Project 2025, for example.
Worked on for years.
It appears there was a removal of some East Wing items done before the demolition. When they started this, is unknown.
The East Wing sits atop the bunker.
Many high wealth oligarchs are building their own self styled bunkers.
Under the guise of constructing the ballroom, and the control of reporting anything related to the Pentagon and interviews of contractors, could there be other plans afoot?
This demolition provides access to the foundation necessary to construct a large edifice.
The drawings of such, indicate a large, multi storied building.
The actual White House footprint is only 14,000 sq ft.
Could many of the 90,000 sq ft be underground?
The engineering numbers and costs are troublesome to most evaluators.
Could he be planning a safe space for his family and toadies?

main stream reporter from a network was brave enough to ask if they are actually building a bunker underneath the ugly ballroom.

President Trump just tore down an historic part of one of the most iconic buildings in the US.

Without asking anyone's permission or opinion.

And no one stopped him. Most of his supporters even support his egregious destruction of US history.

Trump is pushing the limits because pushing the limits shows his power, therefore increasing his power, solidifying his power.

If a Democratic president had so much as taken a hammer out of their pocket and put a scratch on one of the columns, politicians of both parties, in both houses, the entire media, and people across the country would have been apoplectic.

Yet Trump, apparently on a whim, has an entire section of the White House demolished. No bidding process, no permission asked, no historic societies consulted, no real planning process. Just his whim.

And no one stopped him.
What do people respect? People respect power. How do people know that a Strong Leader is powerful? They know when they see it. They know it in their guts.
What can't such a powerful Strong Leader do?

This is how authoritarianism works. It's like when Reagan knocked over Grenada to get the US feeling good about ourselves after losing the fight in Viet Nam. It's like when General Jacob H. Smith pacified Samar.

I have been wondering, what did they do with all of the furniture and art?

And who would have done that work and when did it start?

Maybe it’s shallow but as someone who witnessed people close to me lose homes to fire, those objects are important

They've said that'll be upgrade/renovated, whatever that means.

There also has to be entry space and mechanical rooms, kitchen and planning/storage space, all the back-of-house 'stuff' for event centers.

The GRB Convention center in downtown Houston has a "ballroom" which is where large events happen. For rent to anybody--not part of a government facility--it's hosted dog and cat shows, vendor shows, housed thousands during emergencies (like Hurricane Harvey) and even hosted a national quilt show and, if I'm not mistaken, a comic con.
