General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAs soon as GHWB dies, the WORST thing will be all of the nice eulogies about him
Now yes, I do give him his props for being part of the "Greatest Generation", where his got his ass shot down into the Pacific Ocean. That shit takes brass knockers and every single fighting man and fighting woman who did their part in Old Double-yuh Double-yuh Two has earned my respect for what they did.
That includes Pappy.
HOWEVER
The man did spend a significant portion of his life serving the Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex AND the Secret Intelligence Police State, BOTH OF WHICH have caused more bloodshed on this planet than any sane person can conceive of.
He was part of the lie that was the Reagan Revolution, which set the stage for America's long term decline over the past thirty years. He hired Lee Atwater to poison this country's political process with racism in order to get elected to his one term. He bungled a minor border conflict between Iraq and Kuwait into a major war, by bastardizing the diplomatic process and setting stage for further American involvement.
I should state, for the record, that his wholly unnecessary and tragically violent invasion of Panama was the single most important incident which radicalized me against the Republicans. He should burn in hell for doing that alone.
But he wasn't done
He also sired a new generation of assholes, one of which matriculated into the White House with outright theft and deceit, fucking us up even further.
So, I'm stating for the record that I will brook NO BULLSHIT about how nice a statesman he was, how he should have had a second term and all that other crap, simply because he's going to be worm food. He was one of the worst people ever to be part of modern American politics.
He should be held up as a lesson about WHAT NOT TO DO, instead of being lionized. But they'll do it anyway, both Democrats and Republicans
AND they should know better.

(4,156 posts)A more nauseating, vulgar spectacle has never been seen. Ronnie's corpse flying back & forth cross country at god knows what cost with breathless MSM coverage on all channels.
As for the Bush family, their sense of entitlement knows no constraints at all despite the fact that not one of them is exceptional in any way except as an exceptional IDIOT in GWB's case.
Barbara's uterus should have long ago been declared a weapon of mass destruction for having shot out all those nasty individuals. GWB was born an idiot, but he was also a creature formed by the environment in which he was raised. Coddled & spoiled with his parents bailing him out and making excuses for him his entire life--DISGUSTING.

watch for many cover story pictures of W crying
perhaps he will attempt to give a eulogy and not make it 1/2 way through
every step will be choreographed for maximum effect and ratings will soar for the members of the family.
As members of the exclusive club, and by prior events, all the living presidents will be there
and the man who will benefit most from all of this will be 41's favorite son Jeb.
The script is written.
The interesting thing to watch will be the reaction of the tea party draconians.
While they make the Bush's "appear" normal, what will they be thinking and doing?
Better not let them get out of anyone's sight during the 10-14 days of rememberence that will be.

(18,928 posts)m'kay, well .. the "tea party" is not a real thing. So, let's call all of them wing bats. I was astonished to run across a page at facebook named something like "Christians against Obama re-election". What a nightmare! There were a couple of photos of Jr. with Iraq vets. All of them had prosthetics. The members of the page "LOVE" him. There was enough insanity on that page to fuel a rocket ship to a neighboring galaxy. It was basically like watching a horror film (and I don't watch those). The Bush era is what caused my total lack of faith in goodness.

George HW was not as bad as his son. But he was a heartbeat away from being our president earlier when Reagan was shot. It was always suspicious to me as the hinkleys were bush family friends. And supposedly he was in Dallas the day JFK was shot. I would love to hear his death bed confession. To be a fly on the wall, if only.

GHWB was in bed with the Saudis and was brunching with them and other bin Laden's when the planes hit. He then let them leave the country while all other planes were grounded.
He dreamed of a New World Order and had the Patriot Act penned before 9/11 happened and was just waiting to have it voted on and passed just days after the fact while detractors in Congress and the media were sent Anthrax to silence their dissent.
He was behind a sick Reagan planning Iran Contra, and the hostage takings that lead to Carter's one term.
He ran the CIA and invaded how many small countries and installed "friendly juntas"
He was in Dallas when JFK was shot but claimed he couldn't remember where he was on that day

My fourth clue - some journalists are also CIA agents. When I watch the news, I find it so strange because most of it is propaganda made to look like facts. We are definitely living in the Matrix.

(37,540 posts)When he dies, l hope Poppy and JFK meet on some, extraordinary physical plane - in a grand arena with their deceased peers, standing in judgement, so they can discuss the following unanswered questions:
(1) Each guy's definition of heroism and their crewmember's recollection of events (remember - no lying and no bearijg false witness...MSM take note).
(2) Public Service vs. Private Service. I know all about how Joe Kennedy made millions smuggling reefer and alcohol to a society that did both. A progressive society. Here's a question: How much money did JFK make in public life...how much did George Bush make? Any guesses? Do we know? I know this - JFK wasn't caught in any quid pro quo for direct personal gain....how about George?
(3) 11/23/63. Is it at all interestjng to plot the trajectories of the House of Kennedy to the House of Bush? Where is the intersection? Please include economic analysis of the fortunes of both houses....I'm pretty sure my middle-class fortunes follows with the Kennedys (inrelative terms,of course)Whatta..hey poliscientists....plot all 3 over the past 100 years!

It was as if he was sending out a coded message and whitewashing again everything.
But then 41 looked like a bum that fateful day in 63 didn't he?
Ironic looking for a man that was kind of stylish in his spy days.(some could say an American Bond almost).
But that one day in 63 he sure did look like a bum, didn't he.(or was I just smoking grassy knolls that day?)

(73,631 posts)By the way, that slant drilling equipment that the Kuwaitis used came from Halliburton.
How's that for your post-war BFEE-Secret Government conspiracies?
Edit: You won't read this on Wiki, but GHWB goaded Saddam into staying in Kuwait so he could have his war. This was after Margaret Thatcher chided Bush into going to war after he showed no interest in having one in the first place. After Bush decided that the invasion was a great opportunity to make his bones, give the US increased leverage over the Saudis and Kuwaitis and help the US establish a major presence in the ME that we've never had before, the Gulf War was going to be an inevitability, as Bush saw to it.
Also, look up "the Highway of Death" sometime. That should chill your blood.

(37,457 posts)If you rate humans on zero to 100 scale, with Hitler getting a zero and "some mythical person" getting a 100, how would you rate him ? I'm sure it's well below 50
Thanks for the info too.

(3,596 posts)His entire career was nothing but the pursuit of wealth and power. He could care less about you or I and I could care less about him either. He is/was a despicable character and sired demon spawn.
My marking of his passing will be more muted than the big party we threw when Reagan finally croaked. There were probably 50 people at that party, liquor flowing, party hats and horns and festivity.
The next big celebration will be when some of GWB's crew finally start meeting their maker and shitting their pants because they thought all the hating and killing and stealing was part of God's plan.
