I'm sure Brian Schatz will make a good senator but the other 2 choices were both women - Colleen Hanabusa, and Esther Kia'aina. Why not give one of the women a chance to replace the late Senator Inouye?

OP
I was as well. But more to the point, Colleen Hanabusa was the Senator's personal choice.

Because women are inferior...only old white men have the ability to be senator.

Abercrombie himself will probably face a primary challenge now.
I can't get over how stupid Democrats can be at times.

solely on the basis of gender?
In that case, why not pick Sarah Palin? or Condaleeza Rice? They meet the gender requirement too.

If Abercrombie had appointed Hanabusa, Dems would've had a very tough race to keep her House seat.
The more I read about Schatz the more I like him, I think Ambercrombie made the correct choice.

Well, Schatz isn't old...but some day he will be if he remains in the Senate half as long as Inouye.
