They are not stopping "tax increases" - they are stopping "tax cuts". That is the bottom line truth that the American people need to know.
In the last negotiation because of the debt limit, the Repubs agreed to raise taxes on everyone and to make cuts to the specified programs, including defense. The President has presented a plan that would give every family in America a tax cut on the first $250K of their earnings.
Why do the Republicans disagree with this huge tax cut? Because they want more taxcuts for millionaires and billionaires. It is as simple as that. The Republicans are ready to raise your taxes to protect their wealthiest friends, who themselves would get the same tax cut on their first $250K of income.
Perhaps it is all about how you frame it?
