NY-08: Ocasio-Cortez says primary challenge to Hakeem Jeffries not a 'good thing right now'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is signaling that she will not support a primary challenge to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) in next year’s race.

Chi Ossé, a member of the New York City Council and a democratic socialist, filed paperwork on Monday to run against Jeffries in the Empire State’s 8th Congressional District.

“I certainly don’t think a primary challenge to the leader is a good thing right now,” Ocasio-Cortez told Axios on Monday.

The Hill has reached out to a spokesperson for Ossé for comment.

6. Good. The "I Hate Democrats Let's Revolution Drain the Swamp I Don't Know Anything" movement is not a good thing.

Voters can decide if they want to stick with the incumbent or go with a new voice. We shouldn’t discourage new voices from joining politics.

going on. She and many others are thinking ahead and the Big Picture of Winning the House.

And she wants Leader Hakeem to be the Speaker.

13. I doubt merely voicing opinions about his run is "discourage new voices."

In fact, I'd think it's part of the process.

12. Good for her! I agree. Will she be swarmed in the same way that others who've said the same thing have been?
