PA-SEN: Pennsylvania's Working Families Party pledges to support a primary challenger against Sen. John Fetterman

Pennsylvania’s Working Families Party is recruiting candidates to run against Pennsylvania’s Democratic senator, John Fetterman.

Fetterman has not announced whether he will run for reelection in 2028, but the progressive party put out a public declaration Tuesday pledging to endorse — and, if necessary, recruit and train — a challenger.

The announcement, first reported by The Inquirer, is a remarkable step for the left-leaning organization to take more than two years before an election and speaks to the degree of frustration with Fetterman among progressives.

“At a time when Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are doing everything they can to make life harder for working people, we need real leaders in the Senate who are willing to fight for the working class,” Shoshanna Israel, Mid-Atlantic political director for the Working Families Party, said in a statement.

Giving the voters a choice is why primaries exist. Open primaries are even more democratic. Ping Tung Nov 20 #11

Well if that’s their biggest goal right now, if that is indeed their most pressing political race, if that is where their focus lies, then they’re looney tunes and should be relegated to obscurity.

What is with some people?! Hello, DONALD TRUMP?? Let’s quit worrying about Democratic primaries in 2028, and start worrying about picking up the handful of House seats it will take to flip control to our side, Team Reasonsble/Normal. That is where the American Center-Left’s focus should squarely be. (That, and the state legislatures.)

Nothing is stopping democrats from challenging republican seats. But as I said in another thread I have no issue with a democrat challenging a democrat of the voters want fetterman on the ballot he will come out on top. Id be okay if every elected offical faced a primary every election. It forces incumbent members to be held accountable to the voters instead of just I'll get your general election vote because your other option is the person I know you dont agree with.

Fetterman offers no vision, no leadership, and few apparent democratic principles. Pennsylvania deserves better.

to say he's not the same guy would be a vast understatement. He's a shell of his former self sadly. If he had any decency he'd resign but I imagine he needs the medical benefits due to his horrible health.
