****BREAKING**** Marist Generic Ballot Democrats 55% MAGA 41%

Heading into the 2026 midterm elections, there are some very big warning signs for Republicans in the latest NPR/PBS News/Marist poll.

The survey of 1,443 adults, conducted from Nov. 10-13 found:

Democrats holding their largest advantage, 14 points, since 2017 on the question of who respondents would vote for if the midterm elections were held today;
President Trump's approval rating is just 39%, his lowest since right after the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol;
A combined 6-in-10 blame congressional Republicans or Trump for the government shutdown; and
Nearly 6-in-10 say Trump's top priority should be lowering prices — and no other issue comes close.

It's probably higher but some people know such a preference makes you socially undesirable.

There is the small portion of very wealthy that will be helped by Trump's tax cuts and they will quietly support them. I believe the bulk of the support is the low info voters (for lack of a better term) who have bought into the "conservative lifestyle" with the accompanying racism, etc (he gives them a way to feel special because they hate the same people). I don't think many of them really desire authoritarianism - at least not for themselves!

The man sitting next to me said he likes Trump because he's a boss who will get things done. That feeling is prevalent. Some folks like a "daddy".

enough to swing elections, care about.

all other issues always drop down in priority by voting time.

and any President who refuses to acknowledge economic hardship loses:

- bush 1
- trump's first term

goes back to Clinton's campaign in 1992.

As true today as it was then.
