Mary Trump's great, but I think I've reached my limit when it comes to wanting to "understand" Trump

There's a lengthy post on Facebook, based on a YouTube video she did, where she explains the roots of Trump's unfiltered misogyny, and his deep, unimaginable contempt and hatred for women. She says he got it from Fred. I don't doubt that.

Problem is, I've been hearing these things since 2016. I don't know ANYONE who gave two shits about Trump before he got into politics. Everyone I've known has seen him as a boorish pig, a really pathetic cartoon. That changed with his blatantly racist "birther" attack on Obama, because he was no longer seen as "harmless." And YES...he and Fred got busted LONG before the "birther" bullshit with their New York housing discrimination lawsuit, but they wrote a check, took a victory lap for not admitting guilt, and in all honesty, I never HEARD about it until YEARS later when the NYT resurrected the story under a banner of "How Trump Got His Start."

I just dismissed him. I thought he was a pig and an asshole and I still do, but obviously, when he became president, he wasn't as easy to ignore.

So Mary's latest piece, addressing the "Piggy" thing, is astute, probably painfully accurate, I can't fault her at all, and I've stopped giving a fuck about "why" he is the way that he is.

That will make sense to some people who read this and maybe not to others. I've explained it to the best of my ability. This fucking week...especially his "shit happens" take on Kashoggi while in the midst of fellating Mohammed bin Bonesaw...I don't care about the origins any more. I want America to get its shit together and vote and make sure we never end up in a place like this again.

We were convinced long ago ... we don't need to hear any more of it. I don't have TDS - Trump Derangement Syndrome - I've heard quite enough for one lifetime.

...there's no "AHA" moment there, no thing she'll ever say to put lipstick on that pig (and I don't believe that's her intention anyway).

I just don't think ANYTHING is EVER going to make me say "He's not that bad" or anything like that. I think he's much worse than any of us imagine, and when he's dead, and all of the hidden things come out, I imagine America's going to be in a state of shock.

Why America's not there ALREADY is something I can't explain, and that's the basis of my post.

2. You have a point. Understanding that he's a horribly damaged, hopelessly fucked-up person

who's a narcissist and a psychopath and an all-around terrible human being does nothing to make him go away. But throughout history there have been terrible people who have achieved great power - in modern times we've had the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Ceaușescu, Idi Amin, Pol Pot; even Nixon. The more concerning psychological question, if you ask me, is why so many ordinary citizens respond positively to such people. I, too, no longer care much about what Trump is and how he got to be like that. What I want to know is how to prevent anyone like him from becoming president ever again.

5. It was explained on the TV show The Shield, Season 2, Episode 3, in 2004

I'm not going to post it here, because it's guaranteed to offend, but...

...so I'll paraphrase it. I can't even post the NAME of the episode because that ALONE will offend a lot of people.

The detectives have a prostitute in custody. They can't understand why she chose that life. She explains it and they STILL can't understand that, so they ask the pimp.

And he basically says that he finds weak and vulnerable women with low self esteem, positions himself as the answer to everything they ever wanted, and once he has them on the hook, he yanks it away from them. They panic, seeing him as the only answer, and they become his slaves for life.

It's much more graphic and offensive in the actual video clip, but honest to God, I do believe that is how he rallied the MAGAts.

They were the dregs of society, the outcasts, and rightfully so, because they were hate-filled, paranoid, resentful, low-IQ racists. It's no mystery why Trump said he loved low-IQ people. He could manipulate them, get them to do his bidding, pick their pockets.

Like a pimp.

The clip's on YouTube. Look for "The Shield, pimp lessons." Be prepared, it's disgusting. But it also explains Trump.

And that’s enough for me. I’m spending my energy trying to survive his remaining term and how we’ll fix the disaster long after he’s gone.

8. The distinction between "explanation" and "excuse" is important here.

I read her book, but not the most recent piece. If it's more of the same, I think Mary's explaining, but I I'm not excusing. I don't think there's any excusing him.

At the end of the day, I think it's just that TSF is pure evil, right down to the hole where his soul is supposed to be. How he got that way probably has a lot to do with the psychopathy of the man who raised him. And, when it became apparent to his parents that they were raising a budding psychopath, the decision to throw up their hands and ship him off to military school was probably as close to a consequence for his actions at that SF will ever get in this life.

She's been saying this stuff for years now. A lot of it sounds like reruns, but no more than other pundits repeating themselves.

It's also the case that Trump's psychology is what people ask Mary about, ad infinitum.

He is one super screwed up person with several serious and dangerous personality disorders. She has so far missed the boat when it comes to him having borderline personality disorder on top of his sociopathic disorders which explains his obsession with revenge.

...is that our current economy, the tariffs, the SNAP cuts, premiums set to double and triple for people on the ACA...that's his "revenge" for Biden getting elected in 2020. It wasn't enough to persecute his "political rivals." No. America had to be "punished" for Biden's victory. That's how deep his pathology goes.

It just keeps repeating. I love what Mary Trump is doing though. Maybe one or two dumb magats will stumble across her podcast and let some of it sink in - even though there's not a lot of room to sink.

I also don't need to hear about family issues but I do think she's spent a lot of time thinking about his psychological failings.
