The game is afoot

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/11/19/epstein-files-justice-department-release/

On Friday, Trump ordered Bondi to launch a federal investigation related to Epstein — this one aimed at his ties to several prominent Democrats...

The legislation that Trump and Congress agreed to pass gives the Justice Department a few exceptions under which it can refuse to release material. Among them: if release “would jeopardize an active federal investigation or ongoing prosecution.”

Bondi said Wednesday that she had received information that led her to now investigate people. She did not provide details about that information.

“There is new information, additional information and, again, we will continue to follow the law and investigate any leads,” she said.

is it a cold day in hell? Who didn't expect this? It has been mentioned many times, files with cases under "investigation" can't be released, sooo. Trump will press Bondi or Patel to open investigations. One big circle-jerk.

4. I've always been intrigued by the possible double meaning of that quotation...

...for it can mean either "the contest has begun" or "the quarry is on the move".

Or both.

In this Epstein matter, I'd say that both apply.

5. To be honest, the quote exceeds my level of intellect

I just thought it sounded intellectual and double checked with AI to make sure it somewhat fit the point of the topic.

AI Overview

"The game is afoot" is a famous expression meaning that an interesting situation, challenge, or mystery has begun or is about to begin.

Origin and Usage

• Shakespeare: The phrase was first used by William Shakespeare in his play King Henry V, published in 1597. In the play, King Henry uses the line, "The game's afoot: Follow your spirit; and upon this charge, Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'" to rally his troops before the Siege of Harfleur. Here, "game" refers literally to wild animals being hunted and "afoot" means they are running or on the move.

• Sherlock Holmes: The phrase gained widespread popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. His famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, frequently uses the phrase to signal the start of a new investigation, giving it its enduring association with mystery and intellectual challenge. An example appears in "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange": "Come, Watson, come! ... The game is afoot".

6. So who was this "new information" about? It is about Democrats according to Trump

So if that is the case and only Democrats are being "investigated", that means Trump and Republicans are NOT being investigated and all Epstein files concerning Trump and Republicans can be immediately released.
