(2,961 posts)and Trump doesn't recognize it at all. Zelensky should tell them all to go pound sand as he knows Russia will not honor any agreement for a ceasefire. All costs for rebuilding should be from Russian accounts. That will never happen. They are basically going broke.

Trump needs a big red letter L on his fat, ugly forehead. That's my new version of "The Scarlet Letter".

(2,026 posts)And they should include additional terms such as sanctions against Russia because of their pattern of aggression, limitations on their rebuilding of armaments and so on.
None of these things will be agreed, but it is important to take some control over the messaging. Maybe it is time for the big EU countries to step in with the Ukraine peace plan.

(4,790 posts)The agreement was drafted without any Ukrainian input or consultation. Ukraine should respond with a demand that Russia give up their borderlands with Ukraine (much of this land was once Ukrainian anyway) as a buffer zone to protect Ukraine from more Russian invasion and genocide. We can start with the Kuban region, which was once Ukrainian land:

Attention Mr. Putin! If I read the above excerpt correctly, it does say "for eternity."
Russia is nothing but a terrorist state and has never had any honor.

(7,933 posts)Peace will come when conditions are ripe on the ground for peace. Right now, they are not even close. Indeed, it is premature for peace talks to even be underway. Neither side wants them at this moment. If Trump truly wants peace, then he needs to support changes that change the conditions on the ground. Instead, he has spent 10 months prolonging the war and the carnage. The missed opportunity has been in not thickening the air-defense systems so fewer of the Russian missiles and drones penetrate, and to provide long-range options that can knock out Russia's assembly of these aerial assets. Everyone seems to know what is needed next except for Trump, who has cognitive issues.

(8,637 posts)The days of our allyship are over.
Im guessing Ukraine is acting in simpatico with the EU on this move cause I fear the consequences from the US will be immediate cessation of assistance. Theyve had 10 months to prepare for this day.
Zelenskys done a masterful job coaxing Traitor to come along for this long but this day was always inevitable
