"Maybe...the absence of easy abortions will make a teenager think twice about having sex."

Blogger Says Women Should be Forced to Cross State Lines for Abortions Because Decision "Should Be a Tough One"]

(via seriouslyamerica.tumblr.com)

As we get closer to the point where Mississippi may end up being the only state without public access to abortion, anti-choice advocates just can't help but justify their excitement over seeing more roadblocks put in place. Abortion, they reason, is always wrong and a bad decision so, if you are going to go through with it, it needs to be as long, as expensive, as inconvenient, and as punishing as possible.

Via Jenny Erikson at the Stir:

Abortion is still perfectly legal in Mississippi, and of course doctors in hospitals will still perform them when medically necessary. When it’s save the life of the mother or they both die, I can’t imagine a single physician that wouldn’t do just that. Something about “first do no harm.”

Women will also be able to cross state lines to terminate their pregnancies. Yes, it makes it harder to get an abortion. Call me crazy, but I believe that making the decision to end the life of your unborn child should be a tough one. By having to make bigger plans than going down the street to the local clinic, maybe women will think more carefully about their choices. Maybe, just maybe, the absence of easy abortions will make a teenager think twice about having sex.

That the last thing they were worried about was getting pregnant. Or they figured it wouldn't happen to them.

No woman has ever hoped to get pregnant so they can get an abortion. But if that option is chosen, women will bicycle to the moon for an abortion.

in the history of the human race. Sometimes it meant a shotgun wedding of two kids who were not prepared for marriage or parenthood. Sometimes it meant a girl child thrown out on the street when she was most vulnerable. Sometimes the girl children were killed for shaming the family and sometimes they killed themselves.

I guess that's what they want their daughters to have to face.

who thought the decision to abort wasn't "a tough one", or based their decision on how easy it was to just "go down the street to the local clinic."

"Maybe, just maybe, the absence of easy abortions will make a teenager think twice about having sex."

Yeah, there's a concept that's worked out well since the dawn of time, hasn't it? I'm old enough to remember when abortion was illegal - and there was no such thing as teenage pregnancy as a result.

back in the 60'a when I was in high school. Lack of birth control didn't stop very many, either.

These people act as though women who have abortions just decide to do so in a whim and just walk into a clinic and order one like they would a cup of coffee.

That everyone should "think twice" or be punished or shamed for it? Why is it so wrong to enjoy yourself and do things that are perfectly normal and natural?

If sky god doesn't want teenagers fucking, why did he make them so horny?

These people are idiots.

Life should be pain and suffering, unless you're one of the chosen elite with a fat bank account and day-of-the-week Italian sports cars. If life isn't pain and suffering, you're not in god's good graces.

I ask one of them one time if they realistically expected me, as a single male in my mid-30's (not yet married) to stay celibate, even if I never end up getting married. He hemmed and hawed in his answer, but then finally said that yes I should have to be celibate.

he actually said that when he got married, he wanted to marry a virgin.
I looked at him and said "Why should she be when you're not?"
The more everyone else laughed, the madder he got.

He doesn't. He doesn't give a rat's ass who has abortions, how often, and of that shit. All the politicians who talk about abortion don't give a shit. I'd bet that most of the regular people who talk about abortion don't care about unborn babies and all that crap but at best, have some sort of idea that all people should follow the approved path of getting married and having kids. At worst? politicians who want the votes of the people who want to shove their god up society's ass.

Abortion isn't a cause, it's a marketing ploy.

And an ignorant one at that.

"will make a teenager think twice about having sex"

In my experience, NOTHING will make a teenager think twice about having sex, if thats what they want to do.

I swear these fucking people would outlaw smiling if they could - because someone *might* like it.

but your saying that these people would outlaw smiling 'cause someone might like it, made me rather cynically think that sometimes it seems that 'we' would outlaw it as well 'cause someone might be 'offended' by it.

We have this long concrete planter in front of our production building. It's about a foot high, and there are steel spikes on top of it - well, this long wavy steel thing but you get the idea. That is there because a teenager decided to skateboard on top of the planter, shot out in front of a truck and was squashed flat. Six months later someone did it again.

If you totally eliminated abortion teens would fuck more...a
