Marjorie Taylor-Greene is preparing to run for the Senate -- that's why she's dumping Trump

One of the current Senators from Georgia is John Ossoff, Democrat, who was elected in 2020.

There were three candidates in 2020, none of whom earned a majority -- the Republican David Perdue had 49.7, Perdue 47.9, a third-part candidate had a few votes, which made a runoff necessary..

Ossoff beat Perdue in the runoff by a margin of 50.4 - 49.6.

Ossoff will be on the ballot in November 2026 and MTG plans to run for the Republican nomination so she can take on Ossoff.

I don't pay that much attention to Georgia politics, so, I don't know who the other Republican candidates may be.

Greene's attacks on Trump are an attempt to distance herself from him so he doesn't drag her down in Nov 2026.

Watching her dump Trump in favor of her own political future makes me wonder how many more Congressional Republicans will do the same -- Trump could find himself very lonely over the next few months as Congressional Republicans as well as Republicans in the states realize their future is not with him.

In past she wrote: “I am not suicidal and am one of the happiest healthiest people you will meet” -

And that was before he called her traitor. Or also could run for governor

I think that is the best scenario for Ossoff. Any GOP challenger will be just as crazy as MTG, but people already know how bad she is. By leaving the House now, she has no opportunity to rehabilitate her image. There is endless video of her insanity.

I don't see any recent polling, but there is no reason to think much has changed since these polls earlier in 2025:

Ossoff has name recognition and fund raising advantages.

MTG won in a can’t miss red district. I have relatives there and even the Republican ones can’t stand her.
