MTG: Resignation either calculated or based on valid epiphany

If calculated, she's right. Even in her crimson district, she might suffer a loss in 2026. Better to re-invent herself and get ready for a new election.

If an epiphany, she reminds me of Martha Mitchell. The ex-wife of USAG of Nixon, John Mitchell. Martha was a blind disciple of Nixon. She defended him almost to the end. Always called or referred to him as "Mr. President". She was crushed when the truth was bigger than Nixon. That's when the midnight phone calls to the Washington Post began. She might have been trying to surrender the goods on Nixon. She might have been trying to cleanse her reputation of defending the indefensible. But she never was the same after she realized that Nixon was lying.

Trump probably has some dirt on her and gave her a choice to either resign or become Ghislane Maxwell's cell mate.

just go home and miss all the votes and collect another year's worth of salary and benefits for doing nothing? That's a bad look if she intends to continue in a public facing or political role, but if she is done done why leave that extra ~$200K on the table? She has got to be up to something where future public opinion matters.

She is not running for the Presidency.

She is going to run for the Governor of Georgia.

She used the term "battered wife" as an analogy. This is informative.

She is deeply emotionally hurt by this. It is an emotional reaction that is wrapped in rationalization. She got broken up with. She is going through some stuff. She might need to go to the "spa" for some electroshock. Her and Nancy Mace can probably get a group discount.

Off of the sinking ship. She knows what's going to happen, and she's getting out in order to preserve her future political career.
