Democratic U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, of Dallas, told CBS News Texas she has a big decision to make before Thanksgiving: either run for re-election in the 30th Congressional District or run statewide for U.S. Senate.
She discussed the factors it would take for her to jump into the Democratic primary and join State Representative James Talarico of Austin and former Dallas Congressman Colin Allred.
On Tuesday, Crockett said, "I will tell you that I still have not made up my mind. Everyone thinks that I'm just holding a secret in, but our poll is in the field right now. We are supposed to get that polling back by the end of the week or early next week. I said I would decide by Thanksgiving."
Crockett said she is going to share her internal polling with Talarico and Allred.

(1,752 posts)The Texas redistricting specifically targeted her district in order to get rid of her.

(1,837 posts)for that Texas senate seat - - Colin Allred and James Talarico.
We have no one with any name recognition running for governor.
Personally, I don't think she should give up her house seat to enter what is already a crowded race with plenty of talent.

(18,024 posts)Collin Allred had his chance and apparently never campaigned for the opportunity to represent Texas. He only did fundraising which unless you got big bucks you will never hear about the candidate.
Talarico has been traveling the state campaigning for the opportunity to address who will be voting for him. I wouldve preferred him running for governor. I think he would have wiped the floor with Abbotts butt.
Now with the possibility of Rep. Crockett entering the race I have a huge dilemma and decision to make.

(1,837 posts)I am most likely voting for Talarico, as I like what I've seen from him. I like Colin Allred, too. I LOVE Jasmine Crockett... I just wish with 2 other prominent democrats already in the race, she would go for a different spot--like governor.

(18,024 posts)I think, it would be a challenge since Texas is a red state and her being a woman and a poc it would be hard for her. But Jasmine has the fire in her belly and shes not backing down from the maga mindset which she knows 1st hand how dangerous they can be.
The other concern is republicans control our voting system and get to determine how our elections are run. In Tarrant County county judge Tim OHare is making sure to limit access to polling locations, especially in certain areas of town if you get my drift. Tim was a gop chairman until he ran for county judge. And apparently has the ability to be a kingmaker in our county. He decides who runs in his party. Corrupt and partisan hack, that he is.
