If there's one thing I've got to hand to Trump, is that he's a BULLSHITTER bar none. A master at it, in fact. Which is not to delusionally elevate him to the level of genius in that regard, but rather to acknowledge that there are an astonishingly, ABYSMALLY large number of willfully gullible sorts wholly and willfully susceptible to it. Lending truth to the adage, "there's a fool born..."
And chief among his repertoire of flim--flamery is his narcissistic desire to at least LOOK like he's winning. The almost pathological NEED, to get out ahead of it, even in the midst of abject FAILURE.
Which is why he rationalized the GOP's ass kicking last election by saying stupid s---- like "it was because of the shutdown" (the GOP'S shutdown) and he "wasn't on the ballot." (Newsflash, you WERE, champ.) And why he had to make it sound like the vote to release the Epstein files was his idea (yeah, right), and why he chummed it up with Mamdani (who won DECISIVELY in spite of all Trump's denouncements, his invocations of "communists," his backing of Cuomo, and his threats to defund the city. In fact, Zohran's victory should've been a wake-up call, but I wouldn't bet on it.
So it stands to reason, now that major indicators are painting a picture of a piss-poor economy and a deepening affordability crisis on the horizon, that Trump WOULD make it sound like this was also all a part of the plan:
Trump brags about soaring prices - Dailykos
He isnt warning that prices will rise. Hes bragging about it, celebrating the higher costs as a sign of record-setting tariff revenue.
That unprecedented course [he boasted of] is one of even higher inflation, because when the cost of business goes up, that increase gets passed to the consumer. His post is especially revealing given Republicans insistence that inflationary fears around Trumps tariffs were exaggerated because inflation softened this year. Trump is now claiming those softer numbers werent realthat the true economic hit was merely delayed by inventory hoarding.
Its a stunning position for [him] to take. At a moment when families are desperate for relief, Trump is openly cheering on the very price hikes people are struggling with.

(2,443 posts)I mean aside from a load of other massive personality disorders, the simple fact is this "born on third thinking he hit a triple" asshole cannot "relate" to deprivation in any real sense of the word. There's always some bank or rich buddy to bail you out even if you get into trouble with money.
He's never in his entire life had to feed his kids a bowl of $.50 ramen or $1.00 box of mac and cheese for supper.
He's never had to skip taking a sick kid to the doctor because there was no money to pay the $30 visit fee, or had to choose between medicine and food every day.
No clue what it means to regular people when prices go up even 5% on their necessities
No clue what it means when people lose their job and can't find a new one for months or even years.
"Those suckers and losers should be working harder, like the GREAT ME ME ME!!!" is his attitude, when really all he does is cheat and grift and refuse to pay his fucking bills to the regular folks that work for him, if he possibly can get away with it.
