NJ-11: IBEW Local 164 endorses Gill (D) for Congress

Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill (D-Montclair) has earned another labor endorsement in his quest to win Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill’s House seat: the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 164.

“For over a decade, Brendan has proven himself a true ally to the labor community in Essex County,” IBEW 164 President Thomas Sullivan, who is also a county commissioner in Bergen County, said in a statement. “His dedication and action speak louder than words, and we are proud to support his ongoing efforts to protect and advance the rights of working families across New Jersey.”

IBEW Local 164 represents nearly 3,000 union workers: over 2,000 electricians in Bergen, Hudson, and Essex Counties, and over 700 telecommunications workers around the state.

Thirteen other Democrats are competing for the nomination in New Jersey’s 11th district, which will host a special election next year; the Democratic primary will arrive on February 5, and candidates have to file to run by this coming Monday, December 1.
